During the shooting, the butterfly rolled the proboscis constantly in and out and moved, which did not make the focussing much easier.

A very quick basic photo of the colour orange, for the group: Smile on Saturday 😊 An interesting fact about the colour Orange is there was never a name in English for this colour, it was known as: Red-Yellow! It wasn’t until the introduction into England of the fruit (The Orange) that the the name was adopted for the colour. A busy week so nothing fancy guys. But I did add some tilt to the shot to give it some respect. Shot with my phone ☎️ as I was away from my cameras.

I have developed a deep respect for animals. I consider them fellow living creatures with certain rights that should not be violated any more than those of humans :-)

When I took this picture, the owner told me to keep my fingers away from the beak. They have very powerful beaks that can generate a pressure of 500 up to 2,000+ psi (pounds per square inch). Humans, for example, average a bite force of around 150 psi.
This image was captured at Parrot In Paradise, a parrot rescue, rehabilitation, education and adoption center. We were fortunate enough to stay on the property during our travels on the Big Island of Hawaii. . Being invited into the aviaries with these gorgeous birds was exciting. I was new to using a macro lens and found myself moving closer and closer to the birds. Before leaving I offered many of my photographs to the owners and throughout the years, those images have been used on their website. What golden memories!
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Before the sun shone directly on the water in the morning and outshone it, I "played" a bit with exposure times and details.
The water has such a high falling speed that 1/8 to 1/10 exposure time is sufficient to make it soft and yet with a certain movement.

This is just because every Flickr feed needs a photo of a crocodile or alligator — *not* the footwear my son insists on wearing with socks, by the way. He tells me Crocs with socks is a thing. No offense if that’s your style where you live! 😉
I didn’t have a recent crocodile photo, so here’s Alfred the alligator. If I were his mummy crocodile, I’d definitely have named him Alfred. He’s got a bit of a thing for swimming in the rain, clearly. I swear I heard him singing:
I'm swimmin' in the rain,
Just swimmin' in the rain,
What a glorious feeling,
And I'm hungry again.
I'm laughing at clouds,
So dark, up above,
I could swallow that photographer whole,
If someone would just give him a shove.
No fun facts tonight because there is sooo much about these fantastic creatures I'd lose you! Suffice to say both crocodiles and alligators are fascinating survivors from the dinosaur era. After millions of years of evolution, they’ve become ferocious, expert hunters, inspiring equal parts respect and fear. We only have 1-2 fatalities a year from "salties" (saltwater crocodiles) over here. Maybe it's their revenge on people wearing that ridiculous footwear!
Happy weekend, everyone! :)

What has happened to the art of respect? We are all human beings, made of flesh and blood, no-one is superior to anyone else. It is time to change the political rhetoric which is supposed to guide us. The language used these days is not fit for our children's ears, it needs to be cleaned up so that we can teach our children about love and diversity, not hate and non acceptance! It is President Trumps duty to lead by example, through educated behavior which can also benefit his own son.
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
While the left was taking bath, the right one suddenly appeared. And they started quarreling. I wonder what he would say... Respect my privacy?!? :)) Both are males, by the way.
Wishing all my WTBW friends Congratulations for our Third Anniversary! Thanks to you all for your wonderful artistic contributions for a better world over the past 3 years. Hopefully, in a small way we make a difference.
Let's all reach out beyond the divide and come together in kindness, tolerance, understanding, love, help, respect, positive thinking and actions, compassion and embrace our differences, my friends!
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Surf Safety Matters - As tempting as the beaches look, surf safety is something we can’t afford to ignore. Some of the latest stats from Royal Surf Lifesaving Australia (2024) really hit home for me.
Some key stats from last year:
* 323 drowning deaths in Australia (with a population of just 27M)
* 30% were 65 years or older
* 86% of coastal drownings were male
* Coastal areas saw the most drownings, followed by inland waterways & swimming pools (half in backyard pools)
* Over half of coastal drownings happened more than 1km away from any surf lifesaving service
These numbers are more than just statistics though - they represent real people with families, friends, and lives. Fellow humans. Each one is a tragedy.
As a 65+ male who spends a lot of time exploring remote coastal areas, quite often alone (& swimming with no SLS services for km's), these numbers hit close to home. A sobering reminder that nature is powerful and can never be underestimated.
The message is simple. Stay aware, stay safe, and respect the water. That could apply to anyone anywhere, just replace "water" with "nature"!
Wishing everyone a safe and mindful week! Thanks for your comments, they are always greatly appreciated! 😊
