While on a road trip through Colorado, a peregrine falcon landed on a fence post a few feet away. It flew away before I could react, and just like that, I was obsessed. Since then, I made it a point to look out for the members of the falcon and the hawk family whenever I can. While many cool birds belong to these bird families, no one is more iconic than the Bald Eagle. As a symbol, it's everywhere you look, especially in the United States, but the real deal has eluded me so far, until last Sunday.
We were close to our breaking point from staying home and dealing with a toddler who is growing rebellious by the day. So we decided to do a quick drive on the scenic drive nearby. While photography was not part of the original plan, I decided to grab my birding gear anyway. While on our drive, I noticed some movement by the road and decided to check it out. It turns out what I watched was a bald eagle landing on a tree nearby. But once I stopped, we noticed that there were two birds. They were perched on a dead tree near a small pond. Unfortunately, the pond was quite far from the road, and there were no access roads. We drove around a bit to get close to the birds, but it was still far, even with my 700mm focal length. As I pondered my options, the golden hour started, and warm side-lighting began to come into the scene. Even though I could not get close to this iconic bird's portrait, I am still super stoked with this environmental portrait.
Here I’m proudly present to you my chapter 11 creation of the disney+ series STAR WARS THE MANDALORIAN:
[…]
Before embarking on the mission, Din visits the Frog Lady and Frog Man. He convinces them to babysit the Child. Before leaving, he warns the Child to behave himself and show his hosts respect. The Frog Lady allows the Child to watch the casket of eggs as the first spawn emerge.
At dawn, the Gozanti-class cruiser departs Trask, flying at low speed. The Mandalorians fly behind the freighter and take out the stormtroopers guarding it, throwing them overboard. One of the stormtroopers manages to warn the rest of the crew about the presence of "pirates." At the bridge, the Imperial captain informs the bridge crew that they are dealing with pirates as one of the stormtroopers is thrown against the cockpit window. The captain orders his stormtroopers to guard the hall and the bridge crew to seal the hatch.
The Nite Owls and Din Djarin force their way inside the ship and fight more stormtroopers. More stormtroopers arrive and the Mandalorians fight their way through the hallway of the ship towards the cockpit. In the cockpit, the Captain asks what is going on and how many are there. The stormtrooper says it is hard to say and believes that there are at least ten intruders. The deck officer says that the live readings only pick four foreign lifeforms. The stormtrooper warns that they are Mandalorians before being taken out in combat…

During the building process I tried 3 different versions and angles but at the end this ist he final version and I’m happy how it turned out. Hopefully you enjoy that creation too, please let me know in the comments below what you think about it.

I also upload a MOC SHOWCASE video on my YouTube channel again, I think it catches all the details, so please have a look:
William Ricketts Sanctuary, Mount Dandenong, Victoria
William Ricketts (1898–1993) was an Australian potter and sculptor of the arts and crafts movement.
Born in Richmond, Victoria, in 1898, William settled permanently in Mount Dandenong, Victoria, in 1934. Although not trained as a potter and never technically superior (his works, large and small, frequently exhibit cracking), the power of his vision of a modern Australia that embraces Aboriginal spirituality and respect for the natural world was his general message throughout his artworks. His major works include the "Dromana" in the Seawinds Garden, Arthurs Seat, Victoria, and "Gun Brute" at the William Ricketts Sanctuary, Mount Dandenong, Victoria. Many smaller works are in the collection of the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney. Photographic records of his sculptures, particularly those from the sanctuaries of Pitchi Ritchi and Mount Dandenong, which have been vandalised, are held in the archives of Australia's libraries. Ricketts, never rich, supported himself through commissioned sales of his art and made pieces as gifts. These signed original small pieces are increasingly sought after for private collections.
From 1949 to 1960 he made frequent trips into Central Australia to live with Pitjantjatjara and Arrernte Aboriginal people, whose traditions and culture inspired his sculpture. He was not an Aboriginal by blood but considered himself adopted by the Pitjantjatjara nation. He left behind many of his central Australian works at Pitchi Ritchi near Alice Springs – a bird sanctuary run by his friend Leo Corbet – as he considered the landscape integral to these sculptures.
From 1912 to 1920 Ricketts developed skills in playing violin, crafting jewelry and clay modelling. In 1934 he started his major artistic work, creating the sculpture park now named William Ricketts Sanctuary. He worked on this project until his death in 1993. In 1970 he went to India. He spent two years there, mostly at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram spiritual center in Puducherry, developing spiritual empathy with Indian people and knowledge of their philosophy.
William Ricketts Sanctuary
The main work of William Ricketts is the sculpture park that he named Potter's sanctuary, but which is now known as William Ricketts Sanctuary. In the 1960s the Victorian Government bought the Sanctuary from William Ricketts and made it a public park, where William Ricketts lived until his death in 1993. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Ricketts

The cost for the fight for freedom has no price tag...And freedom comes with the privilege of responsibility, towards wise stewardship of our countries.
To our soldiers, we owe everything, for without them what would we have?
Thank you for your sacrifices in the past, and today
Much honour and respect to each of you.
There is a point south of Point Lobos on the Big Sur coastline where waves build offshore and come crashing in. That is not unusual. What is somewhat unique is that the waves continue up a shelf and then all that was collected, flows back out to the ocean. I've seen this three times, and was fortunately enough to be there on a day when the surf was particularly high, and I caught this outflow as it came roaring back.
In 2012, I saw two ... not-too-intelligent humans trying to make their way down to the base. Fortunately for them, their IQs reached equilibrium (zero plus one) and they scampered back up. You cannot imagine the force of this water and the eddies that form around the base rocks. It is beyond beautiful but must always be treated with respect.
This shot was taken while I was up a cliff about 500 feet. The Pacific coast's beauty is unparalleled along this 100 mile stretch.
This mural was begun by Watson and completed in 2013 by others who wanted to honour him after his death in 2012, One of four photos taken in downtown London, Ontario. Best seen large by clicking on it.
Stephen Michael Watson(1958 - 2012) , born in New Brunswich, worked tirelessly to teach respect and compassion for all living beings on this planet. Through his involvement with Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Stephen tried to teach and inspire people to reduce their carbon footprint and treat mother earth with love and respect.
Thanks for visiting, enjoy your day.
We were having lunch in a well respected Vicksburg restaurant when a rather unruly customer took a seat near us. We quietly discussed whether he was intoxicated, a bit short of a full deck or simply deaf. The customer settled down and we went back to our lunch. Shortly afterwards, I noted that a police officer had arrived and was talking to several employees around the corner. I also took note that the previously unruly customer was between myself and the long arm of the law.
Not wanting to be on the wrong end of a misfired Taser or even worse, a 40S&W, I decided to meet Johnny Law. That's when I introduced myself to Officer Joseph Stubbs.
Officer Stubbs explained the patron was well known to him, and simply hard of hearing and a little "touched." That's a Southern euphemism for blessed in a way that others are not. At any rate, Officer Stubbs was there simply to visit the girlfriend of his best friend, our waitress.
I learned that Joseph had grown up in Vicksburg and knew the area and it's history well. He patrolled the historic district and provides both the duties of a peace officer and a tour guide. He told us of several unusual hauntings, and out of the beaten path excursions to try some time. He also gave me unfailing directions to Margaret's Grocery.
I asked him to be a part of 100 Strangers, knowing that our meeting would make a good story. I photographed him inside the restaurant, next to where the noon sun filtered through the antique windows. I almost did not write down his name, knowing that it was on his name badge. Thankfully, however, I did make a note of it, because the sun obliterated it in the photograph.
Officer Joseph Stubbs is the 175th stranger in my 100 Strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the flickr group page.

I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but things have been a little "different" lately, right? Even my friends on the street have noticed.
Not all of them get minute by minute news updates like many people do. Nor do all of them understand the extent of what is happening. But it is affecting their lives too. There used to be plenty of traffic for Hillbilly to panhandle in. Now some mornings the neighborhood is like a ghost town. Many of the friendly businesses, pallet yards, recycling places, etc... are closed. No segment of the population seems to be unaffected.
But as I drop food, clothes, etc... off in the mornings (or tonight for Levita, Vera, and Squirrel), there is a level of respect. A hug or handshake has been replaced with a virtual elbow bump. Food gets handed out and I distance myself, and they understand my concerns. Nobody gets offended when I say "Sorry, I can't take ANY chances."
I'm not sure if they observe these new social rules amongst themselves, but I appreciate the fact that understand me.
yes there are still a lot that believe in lucky charms or amulets which are no different from horoscopes, zodiacs, feng shui or even religion for that matter . i guess, the bottomline is we just respect their beliefs as long as they keep it personal does not interefere with others
In Manila cemeteries, families honor their loved ones by repainting graves—often before Undas, the Day of the Dead. This tradition reflects care, remembrance, and respect. Bright colors or white limewash are used to clean, protect, and personalize tombs, showing the dead are not forgotten. It’s a heartfelt ritual passed down through generations.
Such a mystical day

Editors Note...
Once a year a pull out a few sets from years past to start of the new year. In 2024 this year I have went back & revamped one of my favorite severe storms photo shoots of 2018
Back then I over colorized & over saturated the images. Pixelated & not my best work... Images were what I wanted but not the final product. If you want to see those to compare to these remastered images... here is your Flickr Link to that set of images...
But these are Gems of Gems.. I've even added about 50+ images in this set that I wasn't able to work on back in 2018. I even made a video with the old images to kick off the 2023 season... You can watch this right here on Flickr... Click Here ** Please remember I used the old images in this video **
Lightning is my forte... It is why I chase storms. To have an photo opportunity come up like this & traveled only 6 blocks from my home to get these pics...Gotta Luv Nebraska!

About that evening...
An epic night of sunset light and storm light @ twilight. Its almost every storm chasers dreams... or at least, in my own opinion, to get along side of a storm like this, as its firing away some incredible CC & CG every few seconds. What more could you ask for...
I was that Lucky Guy that evening. Just mother nature and I. Close to home after a few long storm chasing jaunts is just fine by me. She was producing and I was capturing every incredible second of this storm.. No Forking Bolt went away that evening without me getting a snap of its presence..
