Pirmā ASV vienība - 150 gaisa desanta karavīru no Itālijā izvietotās ASV armijas 173.kājnieku brigādes kaujas vienības - Latvijā ierādās pērn aprīlī. Savukārt oktobrī viņus nomainīja ASV Teksasas pavalstī izvietotā 1.kavalērijas divīzijas 1.brigādes kaujas vienība „Ironhorse”.
No septembra vidus līdz novembra beigām Latvijā bija izvietota arī Norvēģijas bruņoto spēku Telemarkas bataljona rotas kaujas grupa 170 karavīru sastāvā.

“Peace Begins with Me”, but also with dialogue between feuding communities to resolve their differences. A combination of insufficient local governance structures, scarcity of and subsequent disputes over water and grazing areas, and the proliferation of small arms has caused many such conflicts between cattle herders, not least in Central Equatoria State.
On 24 April, a cross-disciplinary team from UNMISS and the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC) and Ministry of Peacebuilding visited Luri for an outreach event gathering representatives from both groups, youth and women’s leaders, local authorities and traditional chiefs.
Awareness on the Mission’s mandate in South Sudan, the status of the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement together with the importance of youth in peacebuilding and participation in the electoral process was raised, with everyone given an opportunity to ask questions and express their concerns. Useful conflict resolution/mitigation techniques to promote peaceful coexistence were also discussed.
Musical entertainment was also provided, with much singing and dancing being both performed and thoroughly enjoyed.

I haven't done one of my banknote tests for a while!
I hired the new Sony FE 300mm F2.8 GM OSS lens, 2x Teleconverter (bought that new as you can't rent them|) and A7R V body this weekend to see if it could be a possible alternative to my trusty Canon gear for bird photography. My main criteria being that the Sony set-up would need to be lightweight - and even more importantly able to capture a similar amount of detail. I thought it might be useful to 'publish' my findings for anyone else looking to do the same thing.
In summary the Sony gear resolved MORE detail than the Canon at 600mm (I didn't quite believe the results so have repeated several time over 2 days and they are consistently the same). Adding a 1.4 teleconverter to the Canon then allows it to resolve slightly more detail than the Sony at 840mm.
The Sony 300 2.8 is the sharpest lens I have ever tested. I have used the Canon lens extensively and know that my copy is extremely sharp.
WEIGHT
Canon R5 0.738 Kg with 1 battery
Grip 0.43 Kg with 1 battery (2 in total) to balance the lens
EF to RF converter 0.11 Kg
1.4 Extender III 0.225 Kg
600 F4 II 3.945 Kg
Gitzo monopod GM5561T 0.75 Kg (needed to use the lens)
TOTAL WEIGHT 6.198 Kg
Sony A7R V 0.723 Kg with 1 battery
Sony 300 2.8 1.47 Kg
Sony 2x Teleconverter 0.205 Kg
TOTAK WEIGHT 2.398 Kg - 38.7% of the Canon set-up!
I have performed the same banknote tests over the years in the same controlled environment. A couple of previous tests are included in comments.
14 m distance (diagonally between rooms at home).
Standard illumination.
Tripod mounted (Gitzo 5 series Wimberley 2 locked down).
Self timer 2 seconds.
Mechanical shutter.
Spot focus.
Aperture priority.
IS on Mode 1.
ISO 800.
Exp comp -0.7.
6 shots taken and the sharpest selected for each combination.

Images 'as is' from the camera apart from a slight contrast increase (same level for all images), no other processing. RAW simply converted to DNG and then JPG (using the same software Adobe DNG converter). Images re-sized in photoshop to match the largest (taken with the Canon 600 & 1.4).
If you really want to closely scrutinise the image, happy to e-mail the original too you (Flickr is a bit limiting at to how far you can zoom in).
Over the weekend so far I have also been out taking 'real world' birding shots looking at focus tracking in flight and perched, feather detail resolution close and far, MFD and anything else I can think of! I will post my results along with the original uncropped version in comments so that you can get a better idea of the distances involved.
I would ideally like to perform the same tests with the Nikon option (Z8 and 600mm 6.3 lens with and without 1.4 teleconverter) but unfortunately you can't currently hire that lens (or the 800 6.3) from Wex.

now you resolve the right pleat intersection almost as in step 6.
first you carefully open up the paper. then you pinch the red lines into mountains and the green lines into valleys. the left long new flap is folded to the right as expected, but the right long new flap goes to the left this time. all the other flaps are folded over downwards.
Lt. Gen. Stephen J. Townsend, XVIII Airborne Corps commanding general, returns from Command of Operation Inherent Resolve Sept 6 2017.
A lapse in judgment caused me to drill an extra pin hole in the wrong place in an otherwise final fitted and pinned down tube. The surplus hole was located on the visible side of the BB spigot's shoreline; not a structurally happy place; simply brazing a pin in and filing it flush didn't strike me as sensible. Two reasonable solutions were available; trash the DT or modify the BB shell to adequately cover and reinforce the hole. I chose the latter. The photos show the story but briefly: I gas welded both sides of a small extension to the existing lug spigot and reshaped it to suit. The extension came from a BB shell that had been used for other prototyping purposes.
I have to confess that I'm rather pleased with the results and, as I long have been, am in awe of the folks who made it look easy on extremely complex joints found in tubular aircraft frames back in the middle of the last century. I've done enough TIG to know which is more difficult! Although I didn't feel this way when I discovered my mistake I'm glad to have made it; the whole thing, from the root cause of my blindered mistake (altering BB drop a skosh, ...after the entire main triangle was fitted, pinned and vent holes drilled) through all the elements necessary for resolution, was an excellent learning exercise.
