I've been thinking about my life when I reviewed 2013 and same time I was thinking about new year's resolutions.
I work hard whenever needed at the office or even being volunteer, I pride myself meeting deadlines, bring order to chaos. I am energized by challenges, I know I am good at solving the problems.
I am always counted on. I am the caregiver and protector of my family.
However I forgot how to have fun like when I was a kid, not thinking about being responsible for many things.
I was still a fun mother before I started working with Architects in real life.
Architectural industry environment is same as design industry, most of the times people are very critical.
I am sure something to do with being a designer but also most of us are under paid not as much as what social status stands.
I don't really meet happy Architects except my office. I feel what I do is just another job it pays the bills but I love the people I work with, they are more like family to me.
I can still make my girl friends laugh but I forgot how to act around men.
I mean the ones I care I get a bit intense and making a lot of things out of scale.
So when the things does not work as much as I hoped, I withdraw and stop dating anyone be what I do best. Be a good Mom, be a fun co-worker and be a goofy girl friend.
Actually I should accept what it is and be blessed with being surrounded by loving caring friends, co-workers and family.
so what's your new year resolution?

Moby Dick is my favorite American novel, and Melville inspires my landscape and seascape photography! “But as in landlessness alone resides the highest truth, shoreless, indefinite as God - so better is it to perish in that howling infinite, than be ingloriously dashed upon the lee, even if that were safety! For worm-like, then, oh! who would craven crawl to land!” ― Herman Melville, Moby Dick

Ralph Waldo Emerson. The happiest man is he who learns from nature the lesson of worship.
Henry David Thoreau, Walden: Or, Life in the Woods: We need the tonic of wildness...At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.

The complete series of 38 round watercolor illustrations from The Flower Book (1905) by British artist and designer Sir Edward Burne–Jones (1833–1898). Burne–Jones called his work "a series of illustrations to the Names of Flowers". Illustrations titled with common flower names, but drawn on Arthurian romance, The Bible, classical legend, and oddly not depicting a single flower. My resolution this year is to seriously invest more time photographing my family and friends. I slacked way too much in that area last year; life's special moments are way too precious not to capture!

A shot at Didcot North Junction full of interest.
Firstly 33 110 is at the head of 1E69, the 1055 Weymouth - Leeds which it took as far as Birmingham New Street (thanks to www.timewarp.abelgratis.com as I have lost my records (and the original print) for this shot other than the date)
Also of interest are the lines of withdrawn 4SUB units in the background, and of course, the lack of surrounding buildings and trackside vegetation. This location was still completely isolated in the early 80s, being just a footbridge in the middle of fields

I don't normally make new year's resolutions but last year I did make one and I have to say I felt quite a sense of accomplishment when I achieved it (for those who really must know it was to get through the year without a speeding ticket...) so I have decided to make another.
The resolution for 2009 is to put at least one film per month through my beautiful little TLR camera - which I absolutely love, but don't use enough. Hopefully having it written here for people to see will encourage me to do it.
A classic goddess! I alway keep the B&W circular polarizer (CP) filter on no matter what--I love the finish it gives--how it cuts down the glare of the rocks & skin!

I tend to let others make new years resolutions and then help them to break them lol. But if I did it might be to throw out everything that has a hole in it or is ripped, I must admit I'm doing that with boots and shoes as it's no good checking the weather forecast before one goes out to make sure they don't get wet feet. Sadly because of it's age this wonderful red PVC dress tares easily and there is a hole where I poked my figer through, however I keep it for now as it is still lovely to photograph in.

My resolution this year is to drink more water this year. Actually I want to be healthier in general, but drinking more water is a good way to start. Happy New Year everyone!

Bacchus, god of wine, emerges with his followers from the landscape to the right. Falling in love with Ariadne on sight, he leaps from his chariot, drawn by two cheetahs, towards her. Ariadne had been abandoned on the Greek island of Naxos by Theseus, whose ship is shown in the distance. The picture shows her initial fear of Bacchus, but he raised her to heaven and turned her into a constellation, represented by the stars above her head.
The programme for the series was probably devised by a humanist scholar in the service of Alfonso d'Este. The subject of Bacchus and Ariadne is derived from the classical authors Ovid and Catullus.
The painting is one of a famous series by Bellini, Titian and the Ferrarese artist Dosso Dossi, commissioned for the Camerino d'Alabastro, (Alabaster Room) in the Ducal Palace, Ferrara, by Alfonso d'Este, Duke of Ferrara, who in around 1510 tried to include Michelangelo and Raphael among the contributors. Titian's painting was in fact a substitute for one with a similar subject which the Duke had commissioned from Raphael. Bellini's 'Feast of the Gods' for this room is dated 1514, and the three works by Titian were painted 1518-25.
week 1
As a mom of four little ones a lot of my day is consumed with being the referee, the counselor, the one making sure everyone is in line; sometimes I forget to laugh. I want to remember throughout my day in 2012 to laugh with my kids more often!
As a photographer I want to step out of my comfort zone, I want to master shooting wide open and I want to take pictures that make me happy even though they might not be technically correct or perfect!
My little Ella's laugh is one that you can't listen to and not laugh yourself. This was a gorgeous day at the park where everyone was getting along and laughter was running wild!
I prompted myself to do a photo/collage for my New Year's resolution: To work more closely with my dreams and to explore the related magic and spirituality. So far so good, some momentous dreams and some new rituals and such.
RESOLUTION is the topic for Monday 9th January 2012 for ODC group.
I'm trying to get my sexy back....LOL...ok, maybe just get in better shape! :)
I am withholding any promise to myself to any of the following :
Get more exersize, Eat healthier & Lose Weight!
The only promises I will make this year are :
Take more pictures, Push my creativity & Get a bigger hard drive!
This is the sum of motion from my timelapse of the conjunction of the Moon and Venus last week. As usual I took a timelapse with the intent of making a video and startrails!
See it on Youtube.
I'm convinced that resolution, both spatial and temporal, is the key to sanity. Resolution guards us from the unimaginable complexity of the collective human experience by abstracting the details that are not pertinent to our personal lives.
From a spectator's perspective, a cheer leading event consists of thousands of athletes dressing up in freakishly glittery costumes to perform crazy flips, tosses, and lifts. The details rooted in each athlete's personal journey, and the journeys of all who guided them to success, are hidden in the minds of those directly involved. They are simply not a part of a spectator's experience.
Sometimes, though, revealing the details -- increasing our conscious resolution -- can yield incredibly rewarding experiences. I spent several hours smack dab in the middle of these incredibly talented and dedicated athletes, and as a result I witnessed some truly inspirational moments from up-close.
To you, this photo likely doesn't strike any particular chords. It's not technically outstanding, there's no "amazing" visual content, and aside from the uniforms, it's not even clear that this took place at a cheer leading event. To me, however, this photo represents the entire life's worth of dedication, support, and passion invested by this girl and her family to get her to where she is today.
Resolution is yet another one of life's seemingly infinite aspects which demands intricate balance.
---
This girl was reassuring her concerned mother that she was ready to get out there and perform. Her foot would be okay -- she would push through it -- and her butterflies were carrying her onto the stage, not away from it :)
