Abruzzo - PNGSL
Appointed with the mobile shed near the usual rainwater in the middle of the woods, fed by my tanks in dry periods. I was trying to make the first shots with my new car and when I saw in the viewfinder this passeriform I could not believe it, an Redpoll in Abruzzo I had never seen it and luck would have come back for a good 7 times to drink near my station. My ringing friend confirmed to me that this is the first ever observation of this species for my region. Sometimes a little luck does not hurt.

Detail of Sony Center's roof, electrified for Sliders Sunday.
Sony Center, a 132,500 m² building complex at Potsdamer Platz (located across the Berliner Philharmonie), consists of several buildings of which the main complex was designed by Chicago-based architect Helmut Jahn. It was opened in 2000.
Sony Center's impressive 3,500 m² roof spans the entire patio, the so-called Forum. The spectacular roof construction consists of safety glass and translucent fabric panels which are attached by tie rods to a steel ring that rests on the surrounding buildings. The roof's shape represents Japan's Mount Fuji. In Japanese mythology, the Kami – holy powers or spirits that are worshipped in Shinto religion – live in the mountains. Since Berlin lies in a mostly flat region and has no real mountains to speak of, the roof's design was supposed to ensure the Kami's protection for Sony's European headquarters (today, Sony's German branch is located at Sony Center) by building them an artificial mountain to live in.
Happy Sliders Sunday, Everyone!

Happy New Year to you all!
2023 was not a great year for me and I am sad to report that it has been 8 months since I even picked up my camera. It hardly ever left my side before, like an extension of my own eyes, but PTSD swallowed me whole and I had lost all inspiration.
My New Year's Resolution, to myself, is to make friends with my camera once again. I don't know what direction that will take other than I want to get to know her again and put her to use doing what Canon intended.
Your support through such a difficult year has been a real lifeline and I do not say so lightly. Thank you all so very much, from the depths of my heart, and I hope that I can eventually repay you all with new work to share.
My warmest wishes to you for 2024 my Flickr friends. The world has gone completely crazy and looks set to continue on that path but know that I will be there with you. Sharing my photography and, more importantly, enjoying the work and words that you share and letting you know that I am thrilled to be on that journey with you.
Take care everyone.

I have deleted this picture from my other flickr site and put it on this railway related one, I will probably do some more in due course.

One resolution for 2025: post more on flickr.com
A previous resolution made in the summer of 2024 was to complete coverage of CSX's former B&OSW territory in Southern Indiana, one of the last bastions of B&O-style color position light signals and the only one remaining that is wired for Absolute Permissive Block operation. Here, a 14,000 ton L452-24 storms out of the Muscatatuck River valley and splits the intermediates at Williams, just east of Nebraska, Indiana on a humid summer afternoon.
I decided to try something a little different and make a list on my Scrabble board game of words which I associate with my New Years resolutions for this year. Sure, I could have come up with a list of the typical resolutions most people make every year but instead I decided to go with what is really important in life which is being grateful for what I already have and to hopefully continue to have peace and love in my life so I can enjoy it as best as I can.
Thanksgiving 2020 photo collection. Sorry for posting so many photos at once. I took 1328 photos in 8 days so I have a lot to share.
I don't like to lose detail so this set is full Resolution.
Great start to the year with my boys... This was a fun one, "keepin it counthry lads!"... sketch was actually from last summer so it's a little different from what I'm playing with at the minute but nice to not think so much and just get funky. Last year was good, but this year is going to be great, at a new stage in my life and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone who I painted with last year again and people I'm going to paint with this year for the first time.
Happy New Year to ye ;D

Saturday Self-Challenge: take a photo that represents your "New Year's Resolution".
Even though I always make resolutions, I never seem to keep them. Well, it's going to change this year!
Here are a few resolutions I've made for 2019:
1. To enjoy more time with my family
2. To exercise more (how many times have I made THAT resolution!)
3. To improve my photography skills, and...
4. To be more creative!
Happy First Weekend, Everyone!
I read something today: what exactly is "a New Years resolution"? It's a "To Do" list for the first week of January!
Perhaps it is. But at least by next week I made 7 new galleries, starting today with Tomás Ajo, a very creative person.
Have a look at Tomás' stream or the gallery I created and see for yourself.
Happy New Year!! And my apologies for the lack of comments on your beautiful photos in the last year!
