Reach is a large-scale interactive mural and musical instrument created for the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh as part of the Tough Art residency program.

There are no visible electronics, but when users touch both the moon and a star (either alone or by holding hands with others) a tone is played.

I was recently asked on an interview for a residency program what my favorite subject to shoot was. Over all? Details. Specifically? Decay and the sublime comparison of human effort to nature.

All this photo misses is a plant or a Dali-esque swarm of termites across the wood.

JAW’s BIG 2-0H brings the work of four dynamic playwrights to Portland. Matthew Paul Olmos uses magical realism and visceral theatricality to explore how children are impacted by complicated adult fears "in three girls never learnt the way home." Meghan Brown serves up power, complicity, pleasure, fear ... and food ... with her outrageously funny play "The Tasters." Emily Feldman challenges the way we hear women’s stories, using humor and arresting imagery in "Pick a Color." And Clarence Coo presents an unusual preference to jays, sparrows and warblers over humans with "The Birds of Empathy."

Free staged readings of JAW scripts will be held July 27-29, 2018.

The San Francisco Dump offers a Artist in Residency program, near and dear to all garbage artists. The artist get access to all materials coming through the dump and recycle center to use for their projects. At the final gallery show, the excess materials are laid out for the public to look through ( and take home). This is the neatest and cleanest pile of garbage I have ever picked over. Wonderful things to be found!

At the heart of Clemson’s residency program is the college’s combined degree option for undergraduate education students. This degree option replaces student teaching in a student’s final undergraduate semester with graduate education classes, and the following year is comprised of a year-round teacher residency. The residency program will see its graduates emerge after five years with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education as well as an extended, year-long student teaching experience.
