The gingham was especially requested by Kathy, but as it was a remnant, I just had to do my best...there wasn't really enough for the back. Also when I got the remnant, it had been sitting at the bottom of the remnant box, all scrunched up, and the bottom left hand corner bit had become irretrievably creased. So I sort of covered it up by applique-ing the music notes over the offending creases.
She loved it. I was very relieved. It's always hard to make something for someone...because their vision doesn't always match yours. I think I got lucky this time.

We celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied and multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

28. i watch seasons of shows on dvd slowly so i can absorb what's going on and dwell on each episode for a bit. i do this with books too. read a bit and stop. take it in then go again.

Requested to cook risotto so got some fabulous shin of veal and cooked it in a classic milanese style
The boy in the blue blanket asked me to take his photo. He was among the students at the Menagesha Monastery, but I had left him out of previous photos. So he called me over and made his request. Over and over again, I found people to be similarly confident and interested in what I was doing without feeling threatened at all.
