Construction work on the replacement Naver Bridge, crossing the River Naver near Bettyhill in Sutherland, in November 2024.
Whirlpool finally replaced the microwave and the new one, has a cool feature; the inside material is suposed to be easy to clean.
This model benefited a lot from a wheel replacement job; it originally looked like even more of a jacked up off-road vehicle than usual with models (toys) in this scale. I cleaned up the casting and then reduced the wheel arch openings using plastic tubing, followed by a coat of Tamiya Silver Leaf and clear gloss, with red painted flashes on the rear fenders. Decals are by Pattos, and the 3D printed wheels are from Roger Wheel Company on Shapeways. The car (actually a 550RS) won its class in the 1954 Carrera Panamericana road race with Hans Hermann driving heroically alone.

The Huss driveway was first lifted by tree roots and then damaged further during the pool installation. Now that Jack also has a vehilcle, it's time to replace and widen the eisting driveway.

After I opened it, of course, this one arrived in perfect condition with very nice wrapping that would have protected the books against rain and such, and included a nice piece of cardboard on the bottom of the stack to hold the three softcover books together.

We live in an office building that was converted to residential. For most of the year it is entirely comfortable, in the winter it stays warm with relatively little effort to heat it, and in the summer it stays cool with only minor assistance from air conditioning. However, during the weeks of transition from winter to spring our apartment has turned into a horrible furnace. It has been unbearably hot, so much so that it is impossible to sleep. Of course we somehow managed to get rid of our fan in the move, so for a week or so we tried to put up with the heat. But it became too much. Our neighbours leant us fan the other evening, and Aryn rigged up a ghetto a/c system in the kitchen window to blow in cold air from outside into our apartment. Ever the problem solver he went out to Canadian Tire today and bought a replacement fan and created a more refined version of his custom air conditioner. It's a step up from the plastic and duct tape version we had for the last few days. It's a bit hilarious though... thankfully we'll only have to use it for a few weeks until the main chiller gets turned on.
bravo Aryn and your $55 solution (materials = $30 fan + $25 jigsaw + leftover plywood from another project). Now I can sleep at night.

Manchester United Methodist Church was looking for a replacement window after the old wood windows deteriorated for the past decade. Glass block was the perfect choice to withstand the elements of an Ohio winter. The church wanted to find a window that was durable but also spectacular and the colored block in the shape of a cross achieved the church's goal. Glass Block of America was able to remove the wood sills and replace with a new sandstone sill.

this one is brand new not used :) and I'm very happy with it.
Since my iPhone's display was wacked, I called Roger's and after some troubleshooting, they told me that they would send out a replacement. In 2 days the replacement was delivered in a kit Pretty damn good service.
Kit includes:
- iPhone in smaller iPhone box than original
- white box to place defective iPhone into
- paper clip
- new SIM card
- UPS shipping bag and slip
So I replaced the remains of the old fuse box with this, smaller, neater, uses large blade fuses. I'll work out the positioning of it better when I rebuild the back end.

Replacement bus services on the Altrincham line have been taking place at weekends in August - these have allowed engineering work to take place on the connection to the Chorlton line, as well as helping to install a new tram control system that will power a more reliable version of the "Next Tram" screens at each stop.
