People wonder why engines fail! This could be one reason.
I visited the mechanical workshop of a good friend, and at that moment he was servicing a BMW (?I think, can't recall exactly!)
This was the replacing of the air filter; the upper one, being surprisingly filthy.
The lower, pristine one being the replacement.
I would venture to say that the dirty air filter has been in situ way longer than the recommended replacement period. This is years worth of dirt accumulation.
SERVICE your car regularly and it will, undoubtedly, last longer :-)

The latest patent date on the plate is 1903. So this plate should be approximately from the era of the machine itself.

HISTORY
Pillar completed 27th May 1949 costing exactly £40. Computed as primary triangulation station PP462 within Figure 6 of the OSGB36 retriangulation network during 1951. This station was also used for the reconnaissance of secondary block HU46 (Shetlands), and levelled to second class precision during 1961. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in May 1980.
SITE VISIT
Overall approach from east. Parked at top of road on Collafirth Hill by masts at HU334835. This road can be driven by car and seems to be open to public, information board at top. Route is WNW via Mid Field, west onto bealach and beeline southwest up Ronas Hill to its summit. Highest point on the Shetland Islands. Rocky plateau but easy underfoot. Stone built pillar within wind shelter in fair condition. Spider has replacement OS centre cap with raised small narrow letters. Flush bracket faces ENE, ~59°. Vented through SW sight hole. Full 360° panoramic view includes Foula.

The old door knob mechanism broke, and the door would not open from the inside or outside. To open the door, we had to hire a building maintenance to crawl out the window of the condo next door, crawl in the window of our condo, and remove the door knob from the inside. After he did that job, I installed a new door knob on the following day.
GoPro was nice enough to send a replacement bicycle mount for the one that I had which broke during a ride recently. I was hoping that they would send me a helmet mount instead, but this is better than nothing. Hopefully this holds up better than the first one.

Manchester United Methodist Church was looking for a replacement window after the old wood windows deteriorated for the past decade. Glass block was the perfect choice to withstand the elements of an Ohio winter. The church wanted to find a window that was durable but also spectacular and the colored block in the shape of a cross achieved the church's goal. Glass Block of America was able to remove the wood sills and replace with a new sandstone sill.
