Repeating herself like a broken record, forever stuck in the loops of play-stop-eject, played-stopped-ejected, rejected, rejected, rejected
Dell and I had the same idea...interesting how that works out.
I like my use of the wide-angle to get a large portion of the building, but I like his increased detail in the windows.
what do you guys think?
I just don’t know the way to words right now, so I am repeating the description from another film and set of 9 pictures, “The Old Man of Hoy Resplendent Rock and Shadow Face.”

The light is splendid and the scene is full of splendour. Nature made it, stories gave it threads enough to make a garment of imagination and inspiration and here it is just a lens away from my camera. Glorious natural Sun, Sea, Sky and Rock Stack all as one making a sight ready to be engaged with and adored.
I have lived with The Old Man of Hoy in my imagination and vision for several decades. From monochrome TV images through to colour TV and eventually to maps and to sight seeing. The good fortune to have bright light and rich shadow made several faces and on the rock and in the shadows it cast. The Man in the Sea Stack is seen with head and shoulders defining his full all in one image. The other shapes are there bring complex chaos to an otherwise single view.
Pareidolia is the name given to the phenomenon of our seeing faces and making out objects in what we see. We try to understand our world an our instant responses and reactions can be very true for us. The passage of the Sun through the year brings light from different angles to give us new shapes, silhouettes and shadows to enjoy.
I started to think,

Both off and of Hoy and more
Yes to Hoy, Orkney Scotland and pushing via circuitous routes other islands and even mainlands too
...only in gentle contemplation.

These repeating windows caught my eye on the side of the Novotel Hotel building in Darling Harbour, Sydney. It reminds me of the smells and that feeling of developing your black and white film in a darkroom.... and that feeling of excitedly opening up the developing canister to see what shots you got! Ahhh the good old days before digital :-)

I took this photo on my way through the park to visit the dental hygienist this morning. This afternoon I have been cleaning the house as Frances is coming over for supper - and Max came in to talk, life is hard for him right now - and so it seems that I shall be catching up with everyone tomorrow.

I only have a very small garden but am blessed with a lovely view of the dockside where I live so thought I would upload a few shots taken during lockdown. Keep well and safe everyone!
This image stopped me in my tracks because everything in it is doing the same thing, just at different scales. Up close, the dune ripples stack into sharp, repeating chevrons. Pull back a little, and the dunes themselves form larger triangular shapes. Pull back even more, and the distant mountains repeat the pattern yet again. It felt like the desert was quietly showing off, saying, “By the way, I do geometry too.”
Infrared makes this kind of structure impossible to ignore. In IR, dry sand reflects light strongly, while shadows drop hard and fast into near-black. That contrast turns gentle curves into crisp edges and makes the repeating triangles feel almost architectural. The foreground ripples act like a visual metronome, ticking your eye forward until it crashes into the darker midground dune, then lifts again toward the pale, jagged mountains beyond.
From a science perspective, this repetition isn’t accidental. Wind sculpts ripples based on grain size and airflow, dunes organize themselves according to prevailing wind direction, and mountain ranges fracture and erode along structural weaknesses in the rock. Different processes, wildly different timescales, same visual language. Nature loves efficiency, and apparently it also loves triangles.
What really got me, standing there, was how playful it felt. This wasn’t a grand, epic, sky-on-fire moment. It was a quiet realization that if you pay attention long enough, the landscape starts rhyming with itself. I remember grinning and pointing it out to the workshop group like a kid who’d just discovered a secret passage. Moments like this are why I love infrared. It doesn’t invent drama, it just turns the volume up on patterns that were already there, waiting to be noticed.
