A Flowchart I created to quickly determine what remote a Cox customer is using.

All Time Favorite: Hey this isn't a photo is it? But I saw it in my photostream...I worked for a cable company for a whopping 2 weeks, and one of the most troubling things we would have to do is try and figure out what model remote a customer had, so that we could help them reprogram it or whatever. I made myself this flowchart, or "Job Aid" in call-center lingo, so that I could figure out, in 4-questions or less, which remote people were using. I hated that job.

Image from DC16 crew who are spending the winter of 2020 in Antarctica – nine months in isolation.

Science for the benefit of space exploration does not only happen off planet. While some studies require the weightless isolation of the International Space Station, another location provides the right conditions for investigating the consequences of spaceflight, and it is right here on Earth.

Antarctica has all the wonder and appeal of space. It is harsh, vast and mysterious. But it also has one thing extra going for it: it is a little easier to access.

Peppered throughout the peninsula are research stations like Concordia, a collaboration between the French Polar Institute and the Italian Antarctic programme. Concordia is one of only three bases that is inhabited all year long, and is located at the mountain plateau called Dome C.

As well as offering around nine months of complete isolation, Concordia’s location at 3233 m altitude means the crew experience chronic hypobaric hypoxia – lack of oxygen in the brain.

During the Antarctic winter, the crew of up to 15 people also endure four months of complete darkness: the sun disappears from May and is not seen again until late August.

Temperatures can drop to –80°C in the winter, with a yearly average of –50°C.

As a station set in Earth’s harshest space, Concordia is an ideal stand-in for studying the human psychological and physiological effects of extreme cold, isolation and darkness.

This is an example for Remote Viewing. First page, Stage One. The viewer is conecting with a spontaneously signal-line. The viewer don´t know what the target-picture is. The signal-line is a connection to his subconscious mind. The monitor, the second man in this session, is asking some questions, which don ´t push the viewer to the target. The viewer will find the target later in Stage 3 without any help. The answeres are noticed on this page. And he noticed his first impression of the target. The answering of the questions has to be in the first three seconds. After three seconds the consciousness will do an dissection about the first answeres - and this is wrong.

The answer in this protocol are in german. The viewer is connected with a random number to the target. This number is written on the envelope too and on the picture in the envelope.

The image produced by the Canon S70. Sent via the 2.4 GHz transmitter I bought via KAP-shop. The 7" screen was lying unused in a cupboard. I had been doing some experimenting with it earlier, but I never got good results. There simply was to much reflection on the screen for it to be usable outside.

Seeing Peter van Erkels setup was a real eye-opener. Simple and effective in completely blocking out the sun's influence on the screen.

I always say: Better use a great idea from another person than invent a bad solution yourself.. Or in dutch:

Beter goed gejat dan slecht zelf verzonnen...

The view from the old Maine Central tracks in Waumbek Junction was nothing short of breathtaking on this spring day. There was still snow cover on the peaks of the Presidentials, and the clouds above them also created a very interesting lighting effect. In some ways I feel like this scene could have just as easily been recorded in Alaska with the water and trees in the foreground. Definitely a wonderful location hidden deep in the woods.

In a remote area like Llapallapani, job sites require unique approaches. Our power connection was finicky and required someone to hold the plug into the extension cord to get power to the drills. Here we see a community member playing that role.
