**EXPLORED** I made this in memory of the lives lost on 9/11. I cannot believe it has been 8 years since the attack on the World Trade Centers. It seems like just yesterday.
If you have not yet taken a moment of silence to remember those who lost their lives, I am asking that you please do.
Pray for the families who lost someone.
Pray for medical personel who risked their lives.
Pray for the United States.

Remember the Beach Boys’ song, “it never rains in southern California”? Not true! The rains have been with us for about a week now. So I had to dig up one of my sunrise moments, captured over a week ago. I think this is one of the most wonderful and almost magical things about photography – being able to freeze moments, put them in a memory box, and open that box again and again, even if only to remind us that we are lucky to be alive, in spite of, because of. I’ve had the “blues” the past few days but you, my friends, have lifted my spirit. How can I not start thinking again of sunrises and blue skies and colors and yes . . . of how blessed I am to have friends like you. And so let me dedicate this sunrise to you all! Have a great week ahead!

75 Years Later
Fountain Hills, Arizona
Today is the 75th anniversary of VE Day, marking the end of World War II in Europe. In a salute, these planes of the era, which are maintained at Falcon Field in Mesa, AZ, were flown across much of the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Although it was not my goal, the shutter speed was fast enough to stop the props.

Once again this year Lothian Buses has retained Lothian 811 to be used as its annual Poppy Scotland bus. However this year 811 has recieved a white coat of paint and no longer its red. 811 is seen here resting at Newhaven before starting on a service 7 to Royal Infirmary H. 02nd November 2016.
This memorial may seem familiar, there were over one thousand cast and distributed across the country.
I know of two other than the one pictured. One on the main staircase of the Jersey City Public Library, Main Branch and one in the north lobby of the Main Post Office in New York City.
"The Bureau of Engraving used bronze salvaged from the Maine to create 1,500 numbered USS Maine Memorial tablet-style plaques. The tablets were initially given to relatives of those killed in the Maine explosion. Demand for the tablets became so great that many were given to cities and veterans organizations across the United States. Quite a few are still on display in veterans parks and memorials.
The lower right corner is stamped "© C. KECK Sc. / 1913 Cast By / Jno. Williams Inc. / N.Y." The bottom edge is stamped with cast number. On the reverse, the top left corner is stamped / Charles Keck, Sculptor / Cast By / Jno Williams Inc. / Bronze Foundry / New York / 1913."
"Keck studied at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League of New York with Philip Martiny, and was an assistant to Augustus Saint-Gaudens from 1893 to 1898. He also attended the American Academy in Rome.
In 1921 he was elected into the National Academy of Design as an Associate member and became a full Academician in 1928. He is best known for his monuments and architectural sculpture. His work was also part of the sculpture event in the art competition at the 1932 Summer Olympics."
The influence of Saint-Gaudens can be seen in his work.

It is 5 years today that my Dad's journey came to an end. What I wouldn't give to have even 5 minutes to talk with him, to tell him how much I love and miss him and to show him how hard I have tried to live my life with all the good he instilled in me. Love you pops.
People who live anywhere in Australia cannot imagine what the last few months of strict lockdown have been like for Victorians, and especially those who live in Melbourne. Five days now with no new cases after what I am sure felt like a never ending horror is at last a welcome circuit breaker. What can I say, you fought back and beat the beast. But we all know, this is not a sprint, the battle may be won but the war is far from over for all of us.
I have felt in a reflective mood today. I remember this day, 22 March 2020, one day before the first wave lockdown with disbelief. The pretty seaside town of Coolum on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland was already deserted, visitors mostly gone home and locals looking sparse.
What was to come? Nothing like any of us have ever seen before. And in reality, eight months on, we are not really out of the woods yet. But through the hard work and selflessness of so many in our wonderful country, we have made great gains. Compare us to the situation in most of the rest of the world.
All of Australia has fine tuned its tracing systems, the numbers are greatly suppressed and yet, our greatest enemy is complacency. We return to our lives, with hope but remember, the enemy is amongst us and also still waiting out beyond the hill. Take care all. As David Nice would say, Shalom! Peace!

I am a bit late with my post, but I did want to take the time to remember all of those who sacrificed everything so that we can be free from oppression. Let’s hope that we respect their sacrifice and preserve those freedoms for everyone. As we celebrate and take the day off, let us pause and spare a thought for those brave men and women. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers as you enjoy your Memorial Day.

Since reliable sources have informed me that animal prints will be coming back this fall... I thought I might try this dress on again. :)
So yeah.. an older dress, but don't worry... I have quite a few new ones from recent shopping trips!
Oh.. btw.. the shoes *are* new! Which shoes do you think fit better? These or the red ones?
