To celebrate KGS Bikes's new relationship with KirkLee Bicycles, I brought in their one of a kind Sem painted show bike and refitted it for a KGS Bikes photo shoot. KirkLee is now a choice for discriminating KGS Bikes clients as the frame is pure custom and is as light as any of the uber frames on the market.
This particular bike was one of the KirkLee show bikes and has been put into more important service as Cissy Cason's beautiful ride. The paint show's Dave Sem's expertise and I am thrilled to be able to build a KGS custom bicycle around a KirkLee frame.

The “Treedom “ engages the relationship of nature to the artificial forms of the urban environment. My photographs explore the natural and uncontrolled growth of trees on places, which temporary escaped the determination of a human hand. It reveals the dilemma between organism and mechanism.
The complexity of the ecosystem found in the organism of the forest is based on the ability of the tree to relate and respond to its surrounding. A tree develops it self site-specifically, following the context of its place. On the other hand the mechanism of the culture constructs concepts and technology that are intervening abstractly in to the natural cycles. They are overpowering the site’s dynamic. The nature in the cities is limited to decorative controlled zones that have little in common with nature in its original state.
In Treedom I am interested in situations where the trees start to act independently interacting with the artificial environment as they would with the natural surroundings in the woods. They create spectacular forms of existence by developing symbiosis with the artificial structures. Some are leaving marks while others are being cut down and eliminated by paving. I see in the seemingly destructive effect of the entropy a creative potential of the nature to transform and balance the alienated environment.
Emma was one of the volunteers involved in the development of KPMG’s Get Cents programme which is an innovative series of three modules designed by KPMG staff and delivered to North Wall Community Training Centre (CTC).
The programme focuses on three areas:
Module 1: Exploring attitudes towards money
Module 2: Spending, saving and personal budgeting
Module 3: Banking and borrowing
Three volunteers deliver the course material in a casual environment in a hands-on, interactive way. Core to the success of this initiative is that volunteers build up a relationship with the young people in a ‘mentor style’.
KPMG are delighted with the opportunity to engage staff to deliver a truly practical initiative to a community organisation that they are neighbours with.
It allows employees to utilise their skill sets and expertise to benefit a community group and ensures that not only do the people participating in the Get Cents programme gain an insight and knowledge into financial matters but KPMG staff also get an opportunity for personal development.
Feedback from volunteers working on the project has been very positive and staff who delivered the programme have thoroughly benefited from the experience.

Did some engagement photos for a coworker's son last week. It was rainy, cold, miserable day. But the shoot went well.

So, here are the DVDs that we had in common. I have a huge collection (going on around 8 years of actively buying and receiving DVDs), so perhaps it's no surprise that there was overlap. I just didn't think that there would be so many.
I'm not really sure what we're going to do with this. Probably try to sell them on Ebay. I know that Out of Print Fight Club might gather a few bucks.
I chose this photo for my homework six, because I appreciated the realness in it. It is two people that have a close relationship and it is a bit mysterious because we are not sure what type of a relationship this is. This makes the photo intriguing. You want to understand this relationship. Is it the boys mother? girlfriend? Is he sleeping? upset? This photo gave me the idea that I would like to photograph relationships between people for my project.
For those who say long distance relationships don't work, I can prove you wrong.
Meet my friend Tracy. Her and her husband Bill used to live in Newark. Our kids went to the same school and were even in the same class. We would talk when we were picking up our children. We were friends, but not on the level of telling each other personal things or sharing problems. Bill got a job that took them not only out of Newark, but out of Ohio. They moved to Arizona.
After the move, we kept in touch via email. She was trying to sell their house back here and I can remember her sending me an email asking how the housing market was in our community.
As the months passed, our emails became more frequent and we starting calling each other periodically. Problems arose in each of our lives and we confided in each other, like sisters would. Since I had no real sisters of my own, being able to talk with Tracy was a real gift.
Although she is a few time zones away, we remain very close friends; much closer than when she lived here. The long distance has only made us closer.
