I photographed this beautiful, dark purple columbine (Aquilegia) in the forest today after a refreshing rain shower. The raindrops on the delicate petals give the flower a special shine and emphasize its natural elegance. A charming moment of peace and beauty in nature.

In less than 7 days the 2013 “The Premiere” Integrity Convention is upon us, and the Fashion Royalty Convention Collection will be revealed debuting a new look. This is the start of a new era! And with that, a handful of changes are in order. A brand new FR logo, a new box design I believe, the retirement of the spin-off brand FR2 and the merging of FR2 and the main line Fashion Royalty. So it was announced that starting with this year’s Convention Collection, the current Fashion Royalty articulated body will be retired and will be replaced with a newly refreshed FR2 body. For a while I was heartbroken. First they killed off the fan favorite FR2 line and now they’re replacing the current FR tall body with an FR2 body for every main FR character. I thought it was drastic and I thought that the characters will start to look alike and that diversity will be gone within the FR universe. All that changed when I did a comparison of the two bodies and I have to say I like where Integrity is going with this. I’ve always felt like the FR2 girls were super tall compared to the FR girls… And FR girls with the FR2 body look weird to me. Looking at them side by side, the height difference is not that drastic actually. The FR2 body seems to have a longer neck and I think it’s because the shoulders are not as broad as the FR body but comparing them in hand, the necks are actually almost the same in width and almost the same height. What I also love about the FR2 is that collar bone is almost human accurate compared to FR. Now some people have expressed that they want bigger breasts for the newly refreshed FR2 body because the FR body seem to always have big breasts but comparing both bodies, again there’s not much of a difference with the bust size. The wasp waist of the FR body may have contributed to the illusion of big breasts as well as the circumference of their upper torsos. I never liked the look of the FR torpedo boobs and the way they project when viewed on the side and I won’t talk about the Nu.Face boobs LOL. They’ll get their turn next year. Some people don’t like the waist articulation of the FR2 body but in my opinion, I liked that it looks seamless and I only use that articulation when they’re clothed anways. I think that the FR2 body’s waist articulation makes it superior than the Jem/Color Infusion body which doesn’t have the ability to turn to the sides. I think it’s also worth mentioning that the FR2 torso was sculpted superbly. I love the chest articulation as well as the abdomen. Now the FR2 body seems gigantic and Amazonian compared to any other Integrity bodies. I think that the longer arms, bigger hands and bigger feet make a contribution to that tall proportion. Though the FR2 body seemed superior than any Integrity bodies, I feel that the hands and feet sculpt is where they fall flat…literally. Comparing it to the FR body and its close cousin, the Jem/Color Infusion body, we haven’t seen any range of hand sculpts for the FR2 body. Not at this time at least. The original FR2 flat hands do nothing for me. They’re not expressive and they’re not as graceful as the FR hands. Now the feet had always been my major issue with the FR2 body. Though I don’t mind the size, I never liked the way they look. It lacks definition, detail and again it lacks grace. When they announced that the FR2 body will be refreshed, I was hoping for new feet sculpt, but what was refreshed on the body was just the knee sculpts. I was hoping for more changes. I wished they have gone all out to perfect the body. It’s close to perfect though. Are we going to see an FR2 3.0 body for the Convention Collection? FR2 I think is one of the best articulated bodies I’ve seen from ANY other toy companies, and I mean that with a passion. Again, I like where Integrity is going with this and I’m fan girling like crazy to what Fashion Royalty is evolving into.

Not far from Vancouver, we have Golden Ears Provincial Park in Maple Ridge. Per the Parks web site it is one of the largest parks in the province. They go on to say:
"The extensive system of trails within the park provides an excellent opportunity for hiking and horseback riding.
Alouette Lake is a popular spot for swimming, windsurfing, water-skiing, canoeing, boating and fishing. The park also has three large campgrounds. Vegetation is typical of the coastal western Hemlock forest of B.C. and the mountainous backcountry is extremely rugged."
We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful resource so close.

Today was a good day, I was able to sleep in and get caught up on paperwork. Then, this afternoon my meetings were canceled so I went shopping, pampered myself, got a mini-massage and visited an Oxygen Bar, then ate at an Oyster Bar... I feel refreshed... can ya tell?
