So today, Kevin and I signed the escrow closing docs on our house....to refinance it. I know, we just bought it, why would we be refinancing? Well, thank the powers that be, we got an FHA loan (Federal Housing Authority backed loan). No prepayment penalties, and they have this cool feature called a Streamline loan. Basically says you can refi anytime if the rates go down, as long as the new loan will lower your payments after all is said and done. With the US economy diving deeper into oblivion, we've taken the opportunity to reduce our interest rate and save about 200K in interest over the 30 year loan. So yay for closing docs! Best part - the notary brought our docs to our home to sign!

The Delano Village Tenants Association held a demonstration today from 11 am to 2 PM. They were protesting Vantage Properties and Apollo Real Estate Advisors -- located at 750 Lexington Avenue (59th St.)
According to the hand outs--since purchasing the property the new landlords have done nothing to improve the place save for cheap possibly used carpeting with no padding that attracted bugs and have done almost nothing to improve the "deteriorated physical infastructure of the complex" despite the f $350 Million refinancing.
Other complaints include:
A senior citizen who had to be rescued by the Fire Dept. after being trapped in an elevator for hours.
Several robberies with evidence of entry gained with a key to the front door of the buidling--one tenant was surprised when a broker entered their apartment with a client without no warning. (the broker had a key)
They will be protesting again on Tuesday, October 23rd. 11am to 2pm.
Guess what- city golf courses are not liable for damages caused by golfers. We would have to know who the golfer was and THAT person would be liable.
I got a quote from Glass America, with a discount for name-dropping our insurance guy's name (which, by the way, we're not covered for on this car, since it was the 1995 Buick, we only have liability) and hopefully we'll be able to do something about it when we get the house refinancing stuff done later next week.

This week’s State of the Nation includes a couple of interesting articles about investors scrambling to take advantage of the lowest mortgage costs since 2009. In one article, RP data proves that the mortgage market activity has rebounded strongly in February after the post-Christmas lull, driven by increased levels of consumer confidence, attractive mortgage interest rates (both fixed and variable) driving strong refinancing activity and improved investor demand.
In other news, landlords would be interested to read an article about Rental Rants and unspoken agreements of taking the communal rubbish bins out on a rotational basis.

Eles pediram ao ministro para incluir na MP, em análise no Congresso, as novas medidas para pequenos e médios produtores, entre elas, condições de refinanciamento e de pagamento iguais aos critérios aplicados ao agricultores do Pronaf.

Ataides propõe refinanciamento das dívidas dos Estados
Preocupado com o endividamento do Tocantins, que “limita a capacidade de investir em novos projetos e atender as demandas da população”, o senador Ataídes Oliveira propôs hoje (14) no Senado Federal em forma de projeto, a “alteração da Lei 9.496 de 1997 que estabelece critérios para a consolidação, a assunção e o refinanciamento da dívida de responsabilidade dos estados e do Distrito Federal pela União”. Com este projeto de lei, Ataídes Oliveira defende o refinanciamento da divida imobiliária dos Estados.
