Many of the soundwall panels were reduced to nothing more than rubble.
Others sustained severe cracking along the face and near the base.
The panels that are damaged but still standing will be broken apart and removed.
I’ve struggled with body issues my whole life.
I’ve been the girl who was always bigger then all of my friends, the fat friend. I’ve stopped myself from doing many things because I thought that I was too big to do them, I feared that I would be too heavy for simple things like rock climbing, or trust falls. Everything I have ever done in my life I have always asked myself the question:
"Am I too fat for this?"
I am learning that the answer to this fucking stupid question, is no, I am not too fat for anything. I am learning that my body, with all of it’s stretch marks and cellulite is perfect in it’s own way and that just because the scale reads something higher than I would like that doesn’t mean that I have to stop living my life. It doesn’t mean that I have to always say no when people ask me to go eat or offer me food. It doesn’t mean that I should be ashamed of what I look like in a bathing suit, or in my birthday suit.
Yes I am fat, but I am also fucking beautiful in my own way. Writing it is the first step, next step, believing it.
On this day in 1923, the U.S. Patent Office grants Patent No. 1,475,074 to 46-year-old inventor and newspaperman Garrett Morgan for his three-position traffic signal. Though Morgan's was not the first traffic signal (that one had been installed in London in 1868), it was an important innovation nonetheless: By having a third position besides just "Stop" and "Go," it regulated crossing vehicles more safely than earlier signals had.
Morgan, the child of two former slaves, was born in Kentucky in 1877. When he was just 14 years old, he moved north to Ohio to look for a job. First he worked as a handyman in Cincinnati; next he moved to Cleveland, where he worked as a sewing-machine repairman. In 1907, he opened his own repair shop, and in 1909 he added a garment shop to his operation. The business was an enormous success, and by 1920 Morgan had made enough money to start a newspaper, the Cleveland Call, which became one of the most important black newspapers in the nation.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reduced releases at Gavins Point Dam to 90,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) of water Aug. 29, 2011. Releases will remain at 90,000 cfs for two weeks to allow the Corps to assess the infrastructure, including dam outlet works, tailraces, spillways and levee systems, and complete an initial damage assessment. Our focus is local. We want to be a part of the solution. We want to provide humane education to the children of Chiang Mai in order to instill a respect and understanding for dogs and consequently work to solve the problem of pet overpopulation on our streets.
Our program aims to solve this problem through understanding and respect. Our lessons will help children become familiar with a dog’s physical appearance, to learn his body language to prevent bites, and to identify his needs. It will also bring to light the consequences of neglect and abuse and allow the children to take action, while promoting English speaking skills.
Maybe it’s their unconditional love they give towards us human beings, their joy when they see us, their wagging tails, their eyes that can be full of happiness, sadness, pain, or fear.

I was coming from a sunset shoot and was on my way back to Malaybalay when a fire broke out at the junction of Aglayan, Bukidnon Road.
The fire damaged a few establishments in the area and leaving some families homeless..
This happened about a month ago..

There's no real rule for what an old dam was made of in my area, but I've found a general time frame applies. For most of the 1800s, expect dry-stacked stones only, no mortar in sight. This dam isn't on the highly-detailed 1876 map of Annapolis County, and they certainly wouldn't have missed something this size. At the turn of the 20th century, you start seeing examples like this, with concrete used to reduce the mass of a structure still mostly made of stone. By the 1930s, virtually everything was solid concrete, top to bottom. After the Second World War, the problem dams were solving became the sole responsibility of the electric company. After decades of slow expansion, even the most rural areas were finally getting electrified. Private water power is what they were built for, whether to run a lumber, grist, or carding mill – or harvest ice before the advent of modern refrigeration. There was such a boom in dam construction that I can hardly hike a stream of any size without seeing a sign of one. Sometimes, it's just a half-crumbled wall on each bank, the middle section long-collapsed. Now and then, I find an example with the center span intact. This has taken a battering through the years, its former purpose long since lost. But I figure it can stand a century still.
