The appearance of three brightly-coloured, amply-proportioned polyester Nanas beside the River Leine in 1974 raised a storm of protest from some Hanoverians and sparked off the city's first partisan and far-reaching debate about art in public urban spaces. Today the Nanas, who quickly became a symbol for the EXPO City, have found their place in the hearts of the citizens of Hannover.
La aparición de tres Nanas de poliéster de grandes proporciones y colores brillantes junto al río Leine en 1974 provocó una tormenta de protestas de algunos hannoverianos y desató el primer debate partidista y de gran alcance de la ciudad sobre el arte en los espacios públicos urbanos. Hoy, las Nana, que rápidamente se convirtieron en un símbolo de la Ciudad EXPO, han encontrado su lugar en el corazón de los ciudadanos de Hannover.

It’s all about imagination!
Albert Einstein once said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world."
This was the first image I photographed from my new series and one of my favorites in the end. From 60+ hours of "yarning" the room, to being laughed at when I tried to buy lumber, to rolling back and forth between "I can do this!" and "I deserve to be laughed at"...this was a labor of love in every sense of the meaning.

Las Nanas fueron creadas por la artista francesa Niki de Sant Phalle en la década de 1960 y han estado en Hannover desde 1974. Las Nanas están destinadas a enfatizar el feminismo y los derechos de las mujeres, por lo que son muy ... redondeadas. Estas "todas las mujeres" se llaman Sophie, Caroline y Charlotte. También lucen algunos atuendos psicodélicos geniales.
The Nanas were created by French artist Niki de Sant Phalle in the 1960s and have been in Hannover since 1974. The Nanas are meant to emphasize feminism and women's rights, so they are very... rounded. These "everywomen" are named Sophie, Caroline, and Charlotte. They also sport some cool psychedelic outfits.

A richly patterned red-and-black flag waves over the crowd at the 2025 May Day demonstration in Helsinki, Finland. The banner — likely carried by anarchist and antifascist protesters — blends symbolic rebellion with textile beauty. In the background, the well-known Kahvisiskot market stall adds a distinctly Finnish backdrop to this radical visual.

i finished connecting the "Divine Comedy" to a new fabric. The three long panels will be unrolled in the upcoming exhibition in Freising.
