After hearing that this mall would be closing and demolished at the end of this month, I knew I needed to go check in out before it was too late.
I've always known this mall existed, but I never actually been in this mall until this visit, which unfortunately is now both my first and last visit.
The interior portion of the mall is set to be redeveloped into housing, while some exterior stores, such as HomeGoods, Sprouts, Buffalo Wild Wings, Red Robin, and Walmart will remain intact. All the interior stores, such as Bath and Body Works, Ulta Beauty, and Ross were in the process, or already closed.
The mall also formerly had a Sears and JCPenney as anchors which have both since closed, and a Cost Plus World Market which also closed. The former World Market seems to have held some sort of local furniture retailer for a brief period of time, but I believe the former World Market building is also set to face the wrecking ball.
The former Sears is owned by Transformco, so that building will remain in place for the time being despite being vacant. I have no idea what Sears/Transformco has in store for the space in regards to redevelopment.
the Woodward corridor from New Center to downtown Detroit is looking better than it has in decades. On the left (east) in this shot you can see the Crystal Ballroom rehab project, and outside the frame is a great storefront rehab of a historic building next to Temple Beth El/Bonstelle Theatre.

All the subways are now closed and are in the process of being filled in, the central area is not accessible to the public.
There is a pedestrian diversion in place, with a new temporary footpath near Eastside Locks. Other diversion routes for pedestrians includes using the various pelican crossings around the area.

Construction of new condominiums in the waterfront redevelopment district. Plans are for a mix of uses and parklands that are gradually evolving.
A large piece of land on the south side of the River Wharfe is being "redeveloped". The businesses who used the site have been given the chance to try their luck somewhere else. Lucky them.

A diamond crossing at Plymouth's Millbay Docks. The line running to the right went to the Glasgow Quay, the one running to the left went on to East Quay.
With the development of this area it's anyone's guess how long these will last. The rail connection was severed in 1971.

My plan for redeveloping the land above the Central Artery in Boston.
Teal colored blocks are office/residential/retail development. Bright green is parks. The existing dual one-way roadways are combined into a single two-way boulevard trough the Wharf District area.
It's all opening soon. The building in the foreground is going to be a cafe/restaurant and will overlook a large open forecourt area. It's looking pretty amazing compared to how it looked last time I had a nose around, about seven months ago, but there's still a lot to do in the next two weeks.
