After the cleanup of toxic waste, other remains being removed at old Georgia Pacific Mill site to make way for new buildings in the Bellingham waterfront redevelopment area.

This first set of buildings will be condominiums.

After the closure of the Reavell & Co foundry known as the Ranelagh Works in 2004 the site was cleared and made ready for housing and commercial outlets beside the river Gipping.

After hearing that this mall would be closing and demolished at the end of this month, I knew I needed to go check in out before it was too late.

I've always known this mall existed, but I never actually been in this mall until this visit, which unfortunately is now both my first and last visit.

The interior portion of the mall is set to be redeveloped into housing, while some exterior stores, such as HomeGoods, Sprouts, Buffalo Wild Wings, Red Robin, and Walmart will remain intact. All the interior stores, such as Bath and Body Works, Ulta Beauty, and Ross were in the process, or already closed.

The mall also formerly had a Sears and JCPenney as anchors which have both since closed, and a Cost Plus World Market which also closed. The former World Market seems to have held some sort of local furniture retailer for a brief period of time, but I believe the former World Market building is also set to face the wrecking ball.

The former Sears is owned by Transformco, so that building will remain in place for the time being despite being vacant. I have no idea what Sears/Transformco has in store for the space in regards to redevelopment.

In Chelsea

A copy of The Incredulity of St Thomas by Caravaggio, this image is placed upon a private development that has stalled in the midst of a soft housing market. New York is now defined by construction and new glistening rentals and condominiums. We are witnessing a reimagining of the New York landscape, but many of these glassy newcomers now stand inert due to a real estate crisis that is just recovering. Who is this new city for and who will truly benefit from the government's cooperation in transforming our urban environment for the more affluent?

This boy followed our group around the entire day. He loved having his picture taken. Quite photogenic. This shot is from on top of the city wall. You can see the interstate to the left, and the Sulukule on the right.

The Executive Office Team recently visited the Boston Redevelopment Authority to learn how city planning impacts education.

The redevelopment of Colwyn Bay's promenade. An army of excavation equipment has arrived and work has begun to remodel the beach. On the Prom, old railings and shelters have been removed.

I knew the rubble in the foreground well. It was a c.1960 one story set of storefronts built on former car dealerships' forecourts. The shell in back was built in 1932. In the 1937 city directory this site held Bartlett's Garage, King & Flint (Caddy, Olds, GMC), and Sanel Auto Parts. When they cleared the site next door, they found 1920s cars buried in rubble- they were left in place and covered with the remains of a garage that burned.

Another office block with an expanded Gibson's on the ground floor. Every new tenant means vacancy somewhere else.

I'd always wondered exactly how the new streets in the Mueller redevelopment related to the old runways and taxiways. I mean, it was kinda cool thinking about ghost jets going through the living room at 200+ mph. Here's an overlay of the master plan for the redevelopment on an aerial photo of the airport after closing, but before construction began. View the large size for better detail. Turns out that my future home is close to a former taxiway. Jets coming through, but not at high speed.
