Gladys Mary is a 35ft fishing trawler built in 1965 by Searles Boatyard for L and I Gilio of Port Adelaide. She is now owned by Kingsley Haskett, the owner of Searles, who helped build Gladys Mary as an apprentice shipwright at Searles.
Anyndah a 29ft yacht (alongside Gladys Mary) 1928, and also built by Searles, is owned by Captain Bob.
There have been many notable boats built at Searles during the past 70 years or so including:
- Nerida, 33ft yacht built in 1933 for T Hardy and now owned by Sir James Hardy (Sydney Hobart winner in 1950 under C Haselgrove)
- Martindale, 66ft motor launch, 1932, designed by R T Searles for J T Mortlock, and taken over by the RAN in WWII. Martindale was later owned by H Halstern of Willunga, Mr Barr Smith of Mt William Station, P Puckridge of Port Lincoln, G Abbott of Hawkesbury River NSW and V Nash of Potts Point NSW.
- Southern Myth, a 40ft yacht, 1953, for N Howard (13 Sydney to Hobart races and still afloat)
- Soliloque of Searles, 38ft yacht, 1960, for G Penfold Hyland.
Anyndah just came off the slip after receiving some of the last repair work to be carried out before Searles is forced to close its doors to make way for redevelopment of the waterfront at Port Adelaide.
QUESTION: What will take the place of Searles and the other historically and culturally significant boatyards that have already been demolished? Multi-storey apartments.
This is when the road ran through High Street past the shops that are now Primark etc past the hall and across New Square. This was taken by Keith Tuttle.

We're back into the work we're doing on documenting the market hall before it's redeveloped. Here's one of Shirley's well seen views of the Hall.
Chesterfield Borough Council is redeveloping the Market Hall and replacing all the interior shopping areas and reconditioning much of the building. This will take from early 2012 to early 2013.
The Council has asked Chesterfield Photographic Society to record this change and you'll see lots of photos as time progresses.

While the diversion still takes you up Severn Street, they have changed the way that you get into the back of The Mailbox.

On an outing to Darlinghurst Doctors this afternoon I was able to capture these images on cell phone camera for Flickr of Paul Ramsay Foundation Limited redevelopment of former Christian Science Church into office premises.
Godwin Street, with Sunwin House on the right. The National Media Museum is straight ahead, and the towers of the former Odeon cinema can just be seen on the right.

I grew up in Rapid City (Central HS 1980), and the changes happening there - especially downtown - are really cool. This is currently under construction.
