Redevelopment project of Honest Ed's and Mirvish Village site at the corner of Bloor and Bathurst Streets, Toronto.
Shenzhen Hi-Tech park on the horizon. Soon towers just like them will be built on this site. The march of progress.
This is a redevelopment of Charter Place in Watford Town Centre. Photos are of the revamping of one the multi-storey car parks.
They made you close-up they'll never let you back
Won't let you back
Go buy your ticket or else you walk the track
No use complaining, blue skies follow rain
The cold-old rain
Just say farewell now, farewell to Storyville
In the 1970s a bus driver then nearing retirement told me that this range of buildings had been stables for the tramway company's horses. I am not sure whether he would have remembered this himself (when were horse buses phased out?) or if he was recounting something he knew by heresay. During the 1960s houses in Christmas Street had been demolished, leaving Host Street open at the bottom. This had been done to expose the old buildings at the foot of Christmas Steps, hitherto hidden down a narrow alley. The lamp-post is an electrical adaptation of a former gas light. These hybrids were once common in the city's lesser thoroughfares. Taken Thursday 28th June 1973.
Work underway on new low-rise blocks of flats on the site of the former Gracemount multi-storey towers. Taken from outside Gracemount Primary School. Compare this to a previous photo:

The development is part of the City of Edinburgh Council 21st Century Homes programme. Phase 1: Building 67 homes for social rent, 20 homes for midmarket rent and 12 homes for sale under a shared equity scheme. Phase 2: Building 70 flats and 46 houses for sale, including sale under a shared equity scheme. Work started on site in November 2010 and was completed in 2013.
The new streets are to be known as Linden Avenue and Philip Terrace. Linden as in Lime tree because of the avenues of limes originally on this site (ironically a good number of these have been removed during the redevelopment). Philip after the TB pioneer Dr Robert Philip who had a brucellosis-free dairy farm at Gracemount.

The redevelopment of the Twin Sails wharf site has started, with the area being fenced off. The separate building at 23 West Quay Road is also being knocked down.
I've been taking photos of this area for a few years now and I think that this will be luxury appartments. With everything going on with the economy at the moment it makes me wonder if they've missed the boat with property speculation.

A bit limited here in Lusaka with a shortage of interesting buildings. This is the Zambia National Building Society in the process of redevelopment. In certain lights it is a lovely copper colour. Not sure how the top is going to look when it is finished, but the scaffolding made for some interesting patterns.

Wilder Street, St Pauls, with Brunswick Street off right, taken at an unknown date but almost certainly around April 1981. Avon House North, spanning Stokes Croft, can be seen in the distance. It looks as though William Cowlin, the well-known local construction firm, are about to start building on the right-hand side of the street. The outcome may be seen in the next photograph.
The Harrison Drape building redevelopment in Digbeth. The façade is being kept on Bradford Street, while the majority of the old building behind has been demolished on Birchall Street, Cheapside and Lombard Street.

We're back into the work we're doing on documenting the market hall before it's redeveloped. This is the main reason for our visit, a view of the Assembly Room. stained glass window.
Chesterfield Borough Council is redeveloping the Market Hall and replacing all the interior shopping areas and reconditioning much of the building. This will take from early 2012 to early 2013.
The Council has asked Chesterfield Photographic Society to record this change and you'll see lots of photos as time progresses.

The station is being redeveloped, and the new flats alongside the Grand Union Canal are clearly visible with the old railway sheds regenerated too.
The facade of the former Odeon cinema in Renfield Street, Glasgow will be retained as part of a new leisure/retail/office development. Quite good to catch a view of its guts, currently still on show. This is one of 2 high profile sites in the heart of Glasgow city centre which are being redeveloped (about time too).
