Pasxalitsa is ladybird in Greek. There are alot of them around Easter, hence their name. I always wondered where they went after spring. Till one day in June I found them at the top of a Dikti, a mountain in Crete. Then I wondered what are they doing there!!

Canadian Pacific Kansas City's empty ballast train crosses the Crawfish River on this fine autumn morning, while heading to Michels quarry over the Wisconsin & Southern's Watertown sub.

Translucent with large white area on carapace and another on abdome. Red speckles cover legs, eyestalks, antennae and claw arms. Commensal with corals Heliofungia spp and Goniopora spp. Lembeh Strait, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

I saw that odd big red spot ... then that wide M that I thought I'd never see. This is the first of a series of shots - I got two shots in these blossoms then it flew further away to more of the same blossoms (anyone know what they are? privet is in bloom ... these are in a wild area at edge of woods).

 

I never thought I'd see this species (Parrhasius m album). Its range seems to be south of us but there are a small number of records from all over the state. I'm not seeing any blue where the wings are broken ... just age maybe?? Hope Daisy is around because I think she's posted this species in years past.

 

I ended up in the hospital that night ... so haven't been around this week. Hope everyone is good.

Having taken the approach shot with the glorious autumnal Lancashire countryside as a backdrop, I opted for this more gritty interpretation for the going away effort.

 

A swift change of position ensured I got some side-glint off the 8.55am Preston Docks - Lindsey Oil Refinery discharged bitumen tanks (6E32) as she rounds the curve at Hoghton. Luckily, of the several frames I snapped, I managed to bag a couple with the all important flashing tail-lamp illuminated!
