20 October 2022 - As seen on my hike from the top of Mt. Tammany, NJ overlooking the Delaware River, I-80, Mt. Minsi and the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware Water Gap. Clear skies and only about a dozen hikers making for a great day to hike. Ten 38mm vertical image panorama stitched and processed in Photoshop, (19,091x9,549 pixels)
It's been a while since I last visited, April of 2021 to be exact. For those that know me, just another shot of the Delaware Water Gap from the Red Dot Trail. For the new folk, this is where my namesake "Gaphiker" originated, my favorite hike, and just like the approximately 165 other times I've hiked to the top (yes I do keep count) I never get tired of this view. I hope you enjoy it too.

The Great Black-backed Gull is one of the largest of North American Gulls (27-31" in length; 63-79cm). They are "four year gulls", meaning they reach full maturity in four years, with various color states each year of development.
I have seen them along the Maine coastline (shown in first comment below), but this one was one of a pair in the Toledo Zoo.

The wood sounded superhard, but the desire to peck was even harder. I have really missed the feather-bearer, but in its super trustworthy manner the sound helps find it again. Note the Lovely red in the head
Taken with my Diaplan, I didn’t know it could also function as a normal lens. No soapbell in sight, just a very basic mushroom, or as we like to call them, the stool of a toad.
Koh-Itten, which loosely translates to “one red spot” is term for a Japanese aesthetic that I think is captured by this photo. :)

Lissocarcinus orbicularis, common names sea cucumber crab[2] and red-spotted white crab, is a species of crabs in the family Portunidae.
Lissocarcinus orbicularis grows to about 4 cm (1.6 in), and has a smooth, glabrous carapace with distinctive spots. The carapace is slightly shorter than it is broad and has a highly convex shape.
This species has a commensalistic relationship with certain sea cucumbers. It can be found within the gut cavity, or near the oral tentacles and anus of sea cucumber species Holothuria whitmaei, Actinopyga obesa, and most commonly Holothuria atra. (Wikipedia) Mabini, South Luzon, Philippines

#SewingNotions
If there's one thing I positively hate about sewing, it's seam ripping. Here's this nice, super secure triple stretch stitch, just finished, and I realise I made a mistake. Sigh. And it's once again time for the grand entrance of the seam ripper...
I bought this for the theme (and for the seam?) because I couldn't find my old trusted (and way too often used) seam ripper. Freud would know why... The new seam ripper is a pretty thing with an ergonomic, transparent purple handle that won the Red Dot Design Award. Maybe using such a nice tool will make me like seam ripping. I doubt it but who knows...
This was also one of the rare occasions where I knew at once what I wanted to do for the theme and how, and – more importantly – where I could actually yield a result almost exactly the way I had envisioned it. To get both the tiny red ball and the tip in focus I had to do focus bracketing (45 images, combined in Helicon Focus).
Btw, do you know what the red ball is for? I only learned it now when doing some research on seam rippers for the theme, realising I have been doing it wrong my entire life. The red ball is supposed to go under the seam. This way, it prevents the fabric from getting damaged and you can smoothly glide the seam ripper through as the seam ripper's edge cuts the seam but not the fabric. Another sigh ;)
I'll catch up with you later!
HMM, Everyone!
