It simply jazzes me how this Artist managed to paint over the 'Staff Parking' sign...without a care..this is a classic.....hence the name i gave it ..REBEL.

These soldiers, trained for jungle/forest combat, were used in the Rebel's final battle. After the death of Luke Skywalker the rebels knew it was time to act. They sent 500 jungle troopers to Endor to attack to Death Star, a huge round tank that self destructs, taking the planet with it. The mission was an epic fail. 500 rebels went, 1 survived, but that was only because he got lost.

This was my second Rebel, which scarily enough was bought in Durham following another ad in The Northern Echo. If I remember correctly, I bought it in 1979.

It was a Mk2 Rebel and differed from the previous one in a number ot respects. It had the larger 700cc engine, then current in the Regal. The instrument panel was different also, on the first one it was identical to the Regal's a kind of half moon affair, but this one had twin cirgular dials and looked considerably more modern.

Not long after I bought it, it developed a mis- fire. After checking the ignition side to no avail, I removed the head to find a burnt out exhaust valve. I replaced the exhaust valves, valve springs and ground all the valves in. After replacing the head and torqueing everything down, I took it for a run, and to say the improvement was out of this world would be to understate things.

The snag with Reliants was that although the bodies were made of none rotting fibreglass, the chassis were made of box section steel which did rot. Later Reliant chassis were made of galvanised steel, but the Rebel came before this improvement. So the day it went for scrap, suffering from galloping chassis rot, I took this photo for posterity.
