Sometimes we do a thing in order to find out the reason for it. Sometimes our actions are questions not answers.

i am the the reason you have eighteen different smiles.
One for when she walks in the room.
i am every penny you ever wished on.
the silence that stands between you and a sunset.
the tingle you feel when your hand fits perfectly in the cusp of another’s.
i am laughter at 4 AM on the kitchen floor.
the reason you choose sunflowers over tulips.
the rhythm of the rain that plays the soundtrack to your perfect sunday morning.
i am the tears that stain your satin pillow.
the fire in your belly when you speak your truth.
the deep exhale when you hear the words, “hey, me too”. .
i am the only thing that breaks just to get bigger.
i am your heart and I am here to make you feel something.
This is one of those 'just because' images. I had no plan at all when I picked up my camera, but these things somehow came together in front of me. The hydrangea flowers are from my garden. I've never used any of the perfume bottles (mainly because I don't wear perfume!), but I've acquired a few of them in the last couple of years and I enjoy photographing them.
I'm not a perfect person
As many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know
I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you
I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
That's why I need you to hear
And the reason is you
-------------------------------------------------------

For some reason, many seagulls favor this particular covered deck over all the rest that are just yards away...here, they've just flown up and will circle around just to land back on this roof...often, you can't see the roof at all when it's covered with gulls! It's this same scenario daily, all year, every year!

A short trip out on the train to Carnforth this morning for a nicely timed Sunday Spoon. It was meant to come down last night on a Shields-Leicester but got terminated at Carlisle for whatever reason. Here is 47812 hammering through Carnforth with 5m59 Carlisle-Leicester L.I.P. running 7 early in a lucky bit of sun.
"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

This was taken on one of the most memorable mornings I have had shooting the local ccoastline. Rainbows, stunning light and the right tidal conditions but for some reason I had the 7D with me and not the 5dmk2. Shooting at 800iso with the 7D is plain messy and something I would not advise doing!
The term Sogod is an English term for beginning. And this was one of the reasons why the town of Sogod in Cebu started the Panagsogod Festival as not just a colorful celebration but a tradition in the local place.
Even in the legends of the town, Sogod is said to be the place where the white sands stretching far from the north really began and the place is also said as the borderline of the black and white beaches in Northern Cebu. The magic and wonder in Sogod have made the town not just a place to discover but also a place to unravel and explore.
The Panagsogod Festival brings the banner of the word sogod which means beginning. This is also a celebration festooned with colorful shades of street dancing and fiesta celebration of the town. The Panagsogod Festival is honored to the patron saint of Sogodanon, St. James the Apostle.
The Panagsogod Festival is an annual event in Sogod and it is just not a showcase of Sogod’s rich cultural heritage and natural wonders but also it is the time for the Sogodanons to become united with each other that will promote unity and peace all over the town. Local officials from Sogod make it sure that every year, the festival is a celebration of the true Sogodanon’s quality and attitude.
In the town of Sogod, The Panagsogod festival is also one way of the place to attract foreign visitors and business that might have an interest in the town’s bounty and beauty. The Panagsogod festival is Sogod’s pride and life. It reflects who the Sogodanons are. It is also a true implication that it is a festival of new beginnings as shown from the different people gathered together to celebrate and have fun.
“There needs to be a reason to go, so you go deeper into whatever place you’re visiting to find those unforgettable experiences.” Laird Hamilton.
How not to miss a place of such beauty? How to forget the unparalleled charm of Santorini? How to get rid of its unique architecture fused with its dreamlike Mediterranean landscape? Those who visit this Aegean island have the risk of falling in love with it, especially if they take enough time to stand there for several days and walk at dawn or dusk the streets of towns like Oia, when the hordes of tourists coming down from cruise ships do not invade its streets. Traveling to Santorini in late October or early November, when the low season has just begun, makes the visit much more intimate without losing that Mediterranean climate that many come looking for.
Once there, it surprises the large number of places where you can get a great photograph. In the small town of Oia, for example, many of the most famous views of the island and of all Greece are located a few meters away. Although in my trips I usually opt for a single location for each sunrise or sunset, at my last dawn in Oia I could not resist the temptation to run from one place to another to get several images. Having walking around the town for two days had allowed me to know the exact location of each photograph, so I was able to move fast enough to take advantage of the wonderful light and the spectacular sky that the island gave us that last morning. This image was the first one I took that morning, before running away with my wife to capture “Smooth Glamour”, and quickly sprinting to arrive in time to get “Perfect Sunrise” (my favorite photograph of Santorini). Without having eaten anything yet since we woke up, we still had some time to take more pictures and videos in Oia, before we had to leave this unforgettable place to which we will surely return.

Out of all the species of animals I have photographed, orcas are the most difficult! I have so many photos of splashes, or just a dorsal fin. And when they do jump out of the water, they are so fast it’s really hard to capture them – especially when you’re driving the boat at the same time.

This is yet another sunset photo taken in the Lemaire Channel as the "Akademik Ioffe" sailed on through this beautiful location.
In this shot, there is a little less light on the top of the mountain than there was in an earlier photo. That's because the light had finally started to fade.
I will never forget that magical 'morning' when the sun finally set, and knowing I've shared the experience with many other passengers is rather pleasing.
Now of course it's time to share what we saw that night so I hope you all enjoy what we found during the last, short summer in Antarctica.
For some unknown reason I'm unable to add tags to my photos tonight.
Is this the most boring photo I have ever posted? Perhaps yes....but there is something I don't hate about it.
The reason I went to Durham, was to observe these beauties. I was not disappointed.

I guess there is good reason why this country is called the emerald isle!!! The late evening sunshine in early June catching the fresh green growth beautifully.
The Lake Isle of Innisfree.....
"I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet’s wings.
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core."
W.B. Yeats
For some reason I couldn't help but think of Glen Campbell's "Gentle On My Mind" while out exploring Door County, Wisconsin. My wife Lisa was shooting this scene of this Ford hanging out in a barn, beside me with her Iphone.
If you would like to give "Gentle On My Mind" a listen, here is a link.
Okay, now for my reason why I love flickr so much.
I'll try to make a long story short as possible. Back in mid-June before I had to leave for Oregon unexpectedly I had my annual mammogram. While in Oregon I received a call from my doctor that my mammogram showed a spot and I need to get another mammogram and an ultrasound immediately. Holy Crap! Okay, so here I am in Oregon my father is dying and now this. So I made arrangements to go to a local hospital and get my second mammogram and ultrasound done there (I would have to pay out of pocket w/no insurance coverage); however, in the meantime my father passes away and I'm dealing with that. So one week later I go to have my mammogram in Oregon only to find out my physician in Hilo did not send the proper documents even though I signed all the release papers and the womens center sent my doctor two written requests. So hell, I can't get my follow up because the office that said it should not wait - screwed up the paperwork so I could not get it done. Go figure! The Oregon hospital refused my appointment without the previous films to compare! Okay, so now I have to wait until I return to Hawaii which I knew at that time it would be weeks as I was planning my fathers funeral, dealing with all the paperwork and details, packing up his belongings, etc.
This is where flickr comes in. Although I did not have my own computer there, whenever I could get my hands on one I would go to flickr and check out my friends photos that would put a smile on my face. As soon as I landed back in Hawaii I had 4 days of waiting until my appointment - I spent as much of those days online in flickr as my computer would allow - I had so many computer problems until 7 pm this evening, it was difficult but it kept my mind off the situation facing me.
Good news to report - I am fine and do not need a biopsy (this year). I went through this last year and needed a biopsy - absolutely the scariest time of my entire life but thank goodnes it was negative. My mother had it, her mother had it - so...
Anyway, that's why I love flickr - it's therapeutic in so many ways you cannot imagine!

The image in your eyes
Reflecting the pain that has taken you
I hear it in your voice, so ridden with shame
From what's hailing you
I won't give up so don't give in
You've fallen down but you can rise again
So don't give up
When the demon that's inside you is ready to begin
And it feels like it's a battle that you will never win
When you're aching for the fire and begging for your sin
When there's nothing left inside, there's still a reason to fight
Lost in your world of lies
I find it so hard to believe in you
Can it be real this time?
Or just a part of this game that we're playing through
I won't give up so don't give in
You've fallen down but you will rise again
I won't give up
When the demon that's inside you is ready to begin
And it feels like it's a battle that you will never win
When you're aching for the fire and begging for your sin
When there's nothing left inside, there's still a reason to fight
Don't let it take your soul
Look at me take control
When knowing to fight this war
This is nothing worth dying for
Are you ready to begin?
This is a battle that we are gonna win
When you're aching for the fire and begging for your sin
When there's nothing left inside, there's still a reason
When the demon that's inside you is ready to begin
And it feels like it's a battle that you will never win
When you're aching for the fire and begging for your sin
When there's nothing left inside, there's still a reason to fight
I'll be your reason to fight
Give you a reason to fight
the reason I named this shot tea bag lake , is because I used a tea bag on a piece of paper and used it as a texture . use a tea bag on a piece of A4 and let it dry the effect is good . oh yeah a wet tea bag , a dry one wont work . croxtheth park
Reason enough to build and upload this little vignette. I hope you enjoy it during a second breakfast ;o)
I’d like to mention that building the round carpet almost drove me crazy. I needed several attempts and in the end, I got some inspiration from the mistress of mosaics, Katie Walker . Thank you, Katie, I owe you one.
These mushrooms are good eating - until they go like this!! The black ink used to be used for writing legal documents, I believe. This and the shape of the young fungus gives it the name "Lawyer's wig". They are also called "Shaggy ink cap" or Coprinus comata.

remember last sunday, when it was -4, with a windchill of -30? for some reason, i decided that would be a good day to trek downtown and get a better coat. i was even prepared to spend a bunch of money. after 2 hours in literally painfully cold weather, all i left with was a $30 parking bill and some cinnamon/sugar roasted pecans from the christkindlmarket. fail. the day i flew home to vineland, though, i found the exact coat i wanted in target, on clearance. so i still win.
There has to be 3100 reasons to like this eye popping yellow 1954 Chevy 3100 Pickup appeared at the annual Agriculture Hall of Fame car show in Bonner Springs Kansas.
The first, and only, major Advanced Design styling and engineering changes occurred with the 1954 models. These models featured a pleasing one-piece windshield, and all-new grille, new parking lights and a new steering wheel and
instrument panel.
Engineering advancements included the new standard 235.5 cubic inch OHV six cylinder engine producing 112 horsepower and 200 ft-LB gross torque. The full automatic Hydra-Matic transmission became an option for light-duty trucks. These trucks continued into 1955 and remained on sale until March 25, 1955 when all-new Early V8 pickup trucks were announced by Chevrolet.
The reason why there is some undesired polarization in the shot, was I had just arrived at the airport and hadn't even gotten out of the car yet, when this appeared in front of me. So I hastily shot it through the car windshield lol
The 5Q79 09.49 Barton Under Needwood to Landore ECS service, with the 4S57 10.58 Hams Hall to Mossend liner also heading west.
37800 was on the front with unit 175109 the reason for the working.
The reason why we went to the Kómlo line, was not only the M62, but also the possibility to catch a MMV Sulzer, as I read an article at www.iho.hu about new temporary (?) traffic from Kómlo to Erd
(translate.google.nl/translate?hl=en&sl=hu&tl=en&a...). And we were lucky: the train showed up :-)
