A stomp, a flower and some plocked leaves

The church was built out of stone in 1887, and is now preserved. Iceland's most cherished [psalm] poet, Hallgrímur Pétursson, served here as a priest.

Inside the church is the tombstone of his daughter ... who was only 4 years old when she died (drowned in the sea).

The tombstone was found in 1964 and is thought to have been made by the poet himself. In 1945 it went through extensive repairs.

I'd never heard of the cinematic movement called Dogme95, but in the spirit of Flickr Friday's theme of Dogme95 this week, this image is the raw file converted straight to jpg without any processing or editing of any kind. I have followed the Dogme95 'rules' of no editing, no tripod, no props, no special effects, using whatever lighting is already available etc.

Letná Park (in Czech Letenské sady) is a large park built on a plateau above steep embankments along the Vltava River in Prague, Czech Republic called Letná. Letná's elevation and location afford commanding views of the Prague Old Town (Staré Město).

this time I changed my main type of image, I saw this little (about 4mm) bug in a red flower in my backyard and tried to capture it. So I increased the ISO ratings to keep the hand held and just try !

I like the vibrant colours of the bug against the deep red flower

Belém Tower ( Portuguese: Torre de Belém ) or the Tower of St Vincen is a fortified tower located in the civil parish of Santa Maria de Belém in the municipality of Lisbon, Portugal. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the significant role it played in the Portuguese maritime discoveries of the era of the Age of Discoveries. My Great Camera Club and FLICKR Mate Richard let me have a go with his 'All-Singing-All-Dancing' CANON 7D Digital + canon EF 85mm f1.8 lens WOW ! we set : Cloudy White Balance. Single Shot, ISO 400, 'AV' auto Exposure, f4 and I could understand all that ! so I took a few Street Snaps here in LockDown BRENTWOOD England . They were 'RAW' but I used FastStone Image Viewer to convert to JPegs -- see -- I'm LEARNING all this DIGITAL STUFF and one day I will be a 'Cool DUDE' !!

Prague is universally nicknamed the " city in hundred bell towers ". Indeed, the Czech capital possesses numerous churches and so bell towers.

There were some flimsy clouds which should be presented and highlighted in the output image, too.

On the other hand the contrast difference between clouds and moon had been minimized due to better presentation of the surficial details of the full moon. Especially the rays of the Copernicus crater on the southern moon hemisphere are now visible more clearly.

Here FYI the former JPEG processing with PSE15 which laid more stress on the presentation of the clouds:

*Was driving home from grocery shopping for Christmas and saw this - amazing right? I think this is the way Earth celebrates Christmas :)...

Enjoy the sunset

Sorry to post and run, will try to catch up later...2 more days to Christmas!!! yay!!!

One more of the 'RUT' in Bedford's Park -- i held it back as the RAW file converted to JPeg had burned out nose in FastStone so I tried it in PhotoShop CC 2015 Edition and the contrast was better -- did an A4 print of this for my Club.

Squeesing and pushing every bit of an underexposed (-2 EV) Raw file!

This picture was meant to be the third shot for an HDR file. Unfortunately the three pictures were not perfectly aligned (no tripod). But before deleting the picture series I decided to play with the GND (graduated neutral density filter) in lightroom. I started by applying a -1/3 EV GND mask to the sky, and a +2EV mask to the rest of the picture. The first attempt, even if not perfect in particular througout the transition between trees and sky, looked already more than promising and pushed me to convert the raw in tiff16bit and to repeat the same operation in PS CS4, that in contrast to Lr provides more latitute and control on the mask definition. And this is the results. Basically I have squeezed the 10 EV of a RAW file in the 8EV of a jpeg.

What surprised me was the huge latitude in pushing the shadows without having to deal with cromance or luminance noise. So if your scene have a strong luminace contrast (10-11EV max) and you want to reduce the risk to burn the highlights, simply expose correctly for the highlights and try to recover the shadows detail in CS4. Furthermore this approach allows firstly to remove the risk of having moving objects (like the tree leaves) and secondly to increase the shutters speed of 2EV, so bye bye dammed tripod! The only precautions are to assure yourself that the scene doesn't exceed the dynamic range of your camera RAW (usually 10-12EV) through the spot exposure meter and to shoot with low ISO sensitivities (100-200).

The Powder Tower or Powder Gate (Czech: Prašná brána) is a Gothic tower in Prague, Czech Republic. It is one of the original city gates, dating back to the 11th century. It separates the Old Town from the New Town.

History

The Powder Tower is one of the original 13 city gates in Old Town, Prague, Construction began in 1475. The tower was intended to be an attractive entrance into the city, instead of a defensive tower.

The gate was used to store gunpowder in the 17th century, hence the name Powder Tower or Powder Gate.
