The curvaceous exterior and steamy interior of Kew’s Palm House have long made it an icon of the Gardens. Designed by Decimus Burton and expertly engineered by Richard Turner, it was constructed between 1844 and 1848.

Experts consider Kew’s Palm House as the most important surviving Victorian iron and glass structure in the world. It was designed to accommodate the exotic palms being collected and introduced to Europe in early Victorian times. The project was pioneering, as it was the first time engineers had used wrought iron to span such large widths without supporting columns. This technique was borrowed from the shipbuilding industry; from a distance the glasshouse resembles an upturned hull. The result was a vast, light, lofty space that could easily accommodate the crowns of large palms.

I really like the way you can see the Torch Holder through the costume of the Cat-Person. Just a happy accident :)

Took this a little while back in Adams Morgan on a sunset, in sepia it really strikes a contrast, I think

A popular site in Portknockie is Bow Fiddle Rock, a large rock about 50 feet high just off the coast. The quartzite structure has a large sea arch, which somewhat resembles the bow of a fiddle.

Small numbers of seabirds nest on the coastal cliffs. These include fulmar, black-legged kittiwake, common gull, razorbill and shag. Additionally common eider can be seen in and around the harbour and coves during the summer months.

I've been pulling music off of old CDs I've not touched in ages. These are mostly rare items that I didn't want to sell ages ago as I knew that they'd be hard to find on the internet.

I ran into a couple of songs that I had forgotten I liked. One in particular had one of those moments that just hits the right spot for me. It's maybe 8 seconds of the song but it is as though those 8 seconds are tuned to whatever frequency my dopamine receptors operate at.

So I spent longer than I'm willing to admit just moving the little time marker back to the beginning.

"This time I'll pay attention enough and it'll stay."

*sounds, dopamine injection*

"Dammit, I was too busy waiting for it to happen and thinking about it happening while it was happening to really be in the moment for the happening. Let's try that again."

*sounds, dopamine injection*

So I'm pushing the button over and over and the pellet drops but it's not fully satisfying while at the same time utterly lovely. The brain is a strange strange thing indeed.

Better when its viewed large on black.

I dont feel like I want people to look at my face today.

How random are the catchlights - they ended up like that as I lit the shot with a hand held pen torch, which I was probably shaking all over the place. I haev the shakiest hands ever.

[Music theme "Back To Black" by Amy Winehouse (see day 6/365 for more details)].
