Rudra Red
Red is dynamic and constantly breathing fire in the eyes of the beholder. It incites fear and is the color associated with one of the most revered goddesses in Hindu mythology – Durga. Her fiery image is enhanced by her red tongue and almost red eyes. Red is also the preferred color for a bride’s garment and hence commemorates the union between two people. It also symbolizes the red tikka on her forehead which is a sign of her commitment causing red to also symbolize fertility and prosperity.
The Rasa depicting this is Raudhram – Fury.
Indian culture inspite of being so diverse boasts of one basic underlying trait – the belief system and traditions. Red symbolizes the staunchness and faith towards these traditions and so is an imperative color palette.
