The Rosette Nebula, NGC 2237, is not the only cosmic cloud of gas and dust to evoke the imagery of flowers, but it is the most famous. At the edge of a large molecular cloud in Monoceros some 5,000 light years away, the petals of this cosmic rose are actually a stellar nursery. The lovely, symmetric shape is sculpted by the winds and radiation from its central cluster of hot young, O-type stars. Stars in the energetic cluster, catalogued as NGC 2244, are only a few million years young, while the central cavity in the Rosette Nebula, is about 50 light-years in diameter.

Today I had one of those days. I sat for around 5 hours today on buses, trying to think of a cool shot for my 365 today. I came up with a few, but each one required something I didn't have - the ability to fly, a row of upside-down cone shaped bushes, good balancing skills and a remote for my camera.
So, instead, I decided to do a tribute to one of my new-favourite flickr artists; Danske, and her shot, balloonsinherface . Her work is seriously awesome, each picture makes you stop and think - I favourited like her entire photostream, so definetly check her out!

December 31, 2020. Last day of the past year, last cloud, last thought... what if this cloud would take away, finally, all the rubble and we could rebuild our home? Lately the inner floor of this old building (at least 300 years old) collapsed, in the middle of the day we heard a loud noise and thought of new earthquakes...
Wind and rain and snow keep eating away from our buidlings, may the reconstruction begin soon, we are longing for a new year with new bricks, new walls, new art to hang, oh so many ideas for using creativity!

This day and the next day belong together.
Logically, they would be the other way around, but I happened to have a lighter day this day, and then a darker day after that.
I probably can't go any simpler or any more honest with a portrait than this.

After depleting my supplies of Ultra, decided it was time to try something new-ish, and having liked Kentmere 400 in past, decided to buy some bulk and shoot it. The plan was / is to experiment with the combo of Xtol and Rodinal like the Ultra, and see whether this could result in good accutance and tones. This short roll was developed with semistand, and the next will be with Xtol, then will play around with combinations. I'd forgotten the distinctive grain with EI 400 and Rodinal can bring. In this case, I do like it, but will be continuing the experimentation. Thanks to the flickeranians who continue to encourage and inspire!
