I spotted this field a week or so and kept it in mind when the sky looked good for a sunset, last night was that night. As i was taking this shot there was a beautiful rainbow behind me, i never got that though;)

Acres of rapeseed in the fields along the Meon Valley with a public footpath running alongside them.
Driving past this most days on the way to work all winter I thought it would be easy to get this shot once summer came. However the weather in april/early may(when the oilseed rape crop is at the peak) was horrible. Eventually it came good before the oilseed rape was pollinated and changed colour.
Although it’s nice to go to the big-name locations, sometimes it’s nice to find something on your doorstep. This field of Rapeseed is about 5 minutes from my house and I’ve been eyeing it up for a shot for a while now, just waiting for the right conditions!
Springtime usually yields an abundance of Canola crops in the countryside and turns the landscape in some places into a blanket of yellow flowers, but one thing that is always nice is there is usually an old oak tree in the middle of the field of canola, which does add a nice contrast to the landscape.

Rapeseed (Brassica napus), also known as rape, oilseed rape, rapa, rappi and rapaseed is a bright yellow flowering member of the family Brassicaceae (mustard or cabbage family). The name derives from the Latin for turnip, rāpum or rāpa, and is first recorded in English at the end of the 14th century.
Rapeseed is grown for the production of animal feed, vegetable oil for human consumption, and biodiesel; leading producers include the European Union, Canada, the United States, Australia, China and India.
