Seriously, Minnesota? We don't send electoral votes to the GOP since Nixon, but in the primary, you go for SANTORUM? Mr. "We're stewards of the earth, but that just means to use it to serve industrialized man, not nature..."?
A little background, Minnesota has very open voting, so practically anyone can walk in and participate in a primary for whatever party they want. Last election, I sincerely believe Republicans mobbed Democratic primaries to stick us with Dayton, hoping he'd lose the election. I can only hope Santorum with 45% is the result of Democrats monkeywrenching the system in a bit of fair-play-turnabout.
Oh, and by the way, politics is one of the few things that gets me going these days... this is fun for me, even though I get a bit apoplectic once in a while.
A pleasant enough IPA, but why so murky ugly?
I taste first with my eyes. I appreciate beauty. Slight haziness or wispy cloudiness is one thing, but I do not appreciate beers that look like, forgive me, baby puke.
London Murky and New England-style Murky IPAs notwithstanding, I stand firmly in this position, if with a shrinking minority of like-thinkers.
Just say no to ugly beer!

Postscript
Proper and skillful brewing can and will produce flavorful yet see-through beers, WITHOUT loss of character. Later that same evening, I tasted a different IPA, more pungent than this, but quite beautiful in appearance, if not utterly crystalline in clarity.

A knee jerk rant against adjusting clocks forward one hour in the spring and back one hour in the fall.
Spring forward, Fall back,that's the mnemonic for remembering which way to move the clocks on the days that everyone (except me I guess) agrees that the time should change. Actually, I'm not sure that is true, May-be everyone isn't burdened with Day Light Saving Time.
For certain, in the US of A we will all chuckle at the inept sleepy heads who charge into their jobs late on Monday because they were so out of touch that they missed the comments on TV and Radio all day Sunday. But (and here's the rant) what sense does it make to do this? I don't really mind changing all the clocks - as you might assume looking at the image, they need adjustment anyway. Why arbitrarily call 'now' Six A.M. when it was perfectly acceptable to call 24 hours ago Five A.M.?
The most credible explanation I've gotten is that we're supposed to benefit from more daylight during working hours. But who leaves the office because its getting dark? Who, in the office bases their decision to turn lights on or off on the time? In fact, aren't most of those nasty fluorescent office lights on hours before the work day (and hours after it) year round?
Actually a rant is probably longer and better reasoned, but I've said it and I'm glad. Just give me some warm milk and put me to bed. I'm sure I'll feel better after my nap. I know my real reason for whining is that I hate to get up early and for the next two weeks, until I get used to the new 6 A.M. I'll have to do just that.
I have posted this picture before but I need to vent so here goes.
I know the public perception of truck drivers is not very good. I saw a poll the other day that showed where we ranked right there with used car salesman and garbage men. Sad but true. People think we are all crack smoking pill poping nuts. I was told the other day that I take pills to stay awake at night and pills to sleep during the day. I had to laugh and walk off. What this person does not know is 2 weeks before he said that I had just taken a random drug test. One of several given at work each year.
If these people would take the time to get to know someone first they may like them. When I was married I was very lucky. The only money my wife and I owed anyone was for our house and two cars. Our kids college was paid for. My oldest daughter got her degree in nursing last year debt free. We have two more in college now and one in private high school debt free. We have sent all of these children ALL OVER THE WORLD. Places I will never get to go and we were happy to do it. A couple of years ago if the housing market had not gone to hell and we had sold our house we had been aproved to buy a mansion and the payments were going to be what I make a week.
I enjoy getting up and going to work each day. I am very proud of what I do. How many people can say that?!! Think about this. If tommrow all the drivers said to hell with it no work for a week. Where would you get your food. Clothes drinks ANYTHING?
So the next time you put a tag on someone because of what you THINK and not know get your head out of it.

Spring is in the air, why should I? At least I feel it in my blood, after a well deserved skiing vacation the sun finally is back in the country and things are getting sunnier, these are the prime reasons I'm a bit quiet on Flickr these days...

When driving around the Island of Skye in 2010 ( it's that long ago and still haven't finished processing my pictures of that vacation... Two weeks ago I decided to go through my Skye pictures to see what I missed and what to expect in August). Long sidenote aside, thus I was driving along the road when I suddenly saw clouds forming above that mountain, I couldn't resist stopping and taking a picture, I remember it was rather windy and the clouds didn't take too long to move on, but I got it on a picture anyway...
Only later when processing the picture I found out this is The Storr with to the right the Old Man Of Storr

I read about this controversy in the newspapers a couple of times but didn't know where the ter Horst house was actually located until I stumbled across it on one of my runs.
I don't remember what the problem was exactly, but man, he must have been pretty angry.

I'm just using it as a post so i can write something.
I feel like i have become so distant with my photography. Very rarely will i actually pick up my camera, and if i do I'm not happy with what i get out of it. I don't know what i want to see in my pictures anymore. It feels like there is no passion behind anything i do anymore. I feel like I'm in a rut and its one of the worst feelings. I've been thinking and i want to start a "365," I'm just afraid that between school and work that I won't have enough time to take any pictures. I'm not much of a writer at all, but i believe anyone reading this will get the jest. if you have any helpful advice i would love to hear it.

I've loved Miley since Hannah Montana first came out. And I still love her. So a lot of people think Miley is a whore. I will admit that her outfits when she performs are revealing. Personally, I don't think the way someone dresses can make them a slut/hoe/whore. If Miley was running around having sex with a million guys then yeah, she'd be a whore. But she isn't. She's had the same boyfriend for a long time. She's almost what..18? She can dress however she wants. Haters are getting ridiculous.
Are you fucking kidding me? Excuse my language, but this is just ridiculous. When some, and I hate to say this, strangers' love life matters this much to you it's time to see a shrink. They dated two months - get over it! They weren't happy together, just leave them the fuck alone. The fact that people also agree with these comments is also sad. What has this world come to?! You want to "kill" Joe Jonas? For what? Not loving someone? This is pathetic. I love celebrities as much as the next person, but these are there private lives we're talking about. Ugh....

bella thorne; im sorry, she just seems fake to me. not her in general, but her and her whole show. did you notice how when hannah montana forever's final episode (not really the last episode, they continuosly update it with a bunch of, what i consider, oneshots. miley's first interview, miley's backlash, miley's family dealing with it, and the upcoming "movie vs. college.") but did you notice how right after the hannah montana finale went off air, shake it ups premiere was on air? not cool. not cool at all. hannah montana was something that just can't be thrown away like that.

I collect coins that interest me. In 2020, I purchased a 400th Mayflower anniversary coin from the British Royal Mint because the US mint ran out. I learned that the royal mint produces some cool commemorative coins. This year, they actually had a 250th Anniversary coin commemorating the start of the American Revolution before the US mint, which is shown in this photo. "The Shot Heard Round the World." But guess what... I could not purchase it directly from the Royal Mint because they no longer ship to the US. I found this one on ebay. Thank you DJT and tariffs.
Now I've learned the US mint is considering a 250th anniversary (Semiquincentennial) commemorative circulating coin with this (ugly) president's face, I find this totally unacceptable, and it may go against the law about considering recommendations of the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee, established by 31 U.S. Code § 5135. Just one small thing, a coin, among all the craziness going on in 2025, but I had to say something.
Southampton Airport is just a few metres away from the nearest line, perfect for passengers, you might think. Well, no. Every possible obstacle seems to have been put in place to discourage airline arrivals from transferring to a train. The station has a fine, modern ticket office, but it is, of course, on the opposite side of the track. Is there a direct connection from the airport to the ticket office? No, you need to walk out of the airport, across a road, along the platform. Then you must negotiate an open bridge, hauling your luggage up, along and down, squeezing past bewildered people dragging their luggage and children in the opposite direction - then back along the platform to a point nearly opposite the doors of the airport. You may well find the ticket office is closed. You may have to return along the platform and over the obstacle course bridge to catch or miss your train.
They have, thoughtfully, installed an automatic ticket machine on the airport side of the line. Is is convenient for airport arrivals? Again, no, it is as far away from the airport as is possible. And can you read the train departures screen from the ticket machine? Again, no. It is an excellent way to lose your credit card whilst you watch your train glide from the station.
The obvious thing to do is to integrate the station into the airport, or failing that, to provide rail information and tickets in the airport. There may be no-one with a megaphone shouting 'Go away, we don't want you!' but the message is clear. The mystery is why.
POST SCRIPT The railway authorities realised that they could make life still more difficult for passengers, so they have replaced the inconvenient ticket machine (which faced north) with two machines facing east. The perverse triumph of the new arrangement is that the screens are unreadable when the sun shines so it is impossible to purchase a ticket from them for a considerable part of the year.

The newest addition to my neighborhood... a stupid stupid tag in ten foot letters. I swear, I'm going to go all vigilante and start beating the people that do this. I want all the crack dealers and graffiti kids out of my neighborhood and back in Minneapolis, where they belong.

I contacted the webmaster of FavorIdeas (dot) com about my problem with them using my copyritten photos/content on their site with out permission and they refused to take them down, and even called me ridiculous for suggestion such.
I wouldn't even care if they just asked permission, and/or gave credit, are the main things, but they still refuse to or just take them down.
