Will be posting some pics from the rally we had in Moscow on Saturday soon (hopefully tomorrow)...
But, have to say this upfront: I'm a bit disappointed (and have been for some time) with the media – one side says it was about 5000 people, the other says it was as many as 200 000 (!), well I've been there and I'd say that both numbers are quite off (20 to 30 thousand is more like it, and I've been there!), and this is characteristic of the whole thing – the loser in the elections is trying to buildup publicity via social networks and the papers while the winning side is trying to quench the attitude...
I'm quite tired of all this propaganda vs. propaganda, I know that the world runs on marketing and PR and I accept this (would be foolish not to), but I do not have to like it. And, I hate when people (regardless of side) call this thing terms it is not.
So here you have it, my first public rant in years ;)
DISCLAIMER 1: me being there does not conflict with what I've just written, I've been there as a photographer – if something "is" I photograph it, as is, and without taking sides. That is why I'm not working for the media/news.... I prefer to think and see things for myself and not read "my" opinions off of some news feed, paper or God forbid TV.
DISCLAIMER 2: I know "panem et circenses" will not work unless it's a real show , i.e. exaggerated and explained correctly for the general public... but, as I said before, I do not have to like it.
The Junction and Breakwater Trail, as it travels through a McMansion development. Golden Eagle Blvd & Peregrin Rd, Lewes, DE.
This trail on a median strip needs trees planted. Lots of trees.
The sign itself is muddled. The name of the trail is in the middle, which is a stupid place to put it. It belongs on top and should be distinct from the destinations. And it should either always be abbreviated ("J&B Trail"), or never. The destinations should include miles.
The "stay on trail" admonition is condescending and snooty. Why aren't there any signs for car drivers on roads saying "stay on road"? It's clear the property owners are grudgingly allowing poor cyclists to trespass just so long as they are quick and don't stray from the designated path.
The crosswalk is just as stupid. Nobody needs arrows to understand which direction people are crossing in.
Why does the concrete flare out at the road crossing? Nobody is going to jump the curb to turn left or right.
Today, I will rant because I'm an eighteen-year-old girl.
I think this photo is quite apt--barriers from parents. My parents are cool I think, they let me get a tatt and belly rings and all those usual things parents wouldn't let their teens get. They let me go out and drink, usually, and they let me do stuff if I ask. So, I think they're pretty cool for 42-year-old parents. Just yesterday, I drove for the first time to Alabang and back home, supervised, but it was nice to go outside the village and try to drive in the real world again. And, my mom even suggested the whole me-driving-thing. So, I thought, whoa they trust me to drive and I wasn't even so confident but it was fun. Then it hit me, LOL I'm 18 and I'm scared to drive outside the village and I'm scared to sleep in my own room alone (yes.. haha!)--I still think I'm 15 or something :p In some things.
I just wanted to go out tonight, not much, coffee or something with Pep and Liana, and then I felt the whole controlling parental thing. Oh that parent phase. BOOOO. So, yeah, that's just me ranting. I still love my parents. We all go through that parent phase. Nyarrr :|

Stupid socks. You think socks will last, but they fall apart when you least want them to. Maybe I'm in the middle of a midlife crisis, and I expect too much of socks. But they always fail at the same place. Like they are mocking you. Stupid, stupid socks.
I'm going to go on a rant here, so you may want to exit now, and go check your InstaFace page.
A million years ago (a good 7 to 10 years before the masses had access to the Interwebs), right out of kolledge, I worked in sales for a regional consumer electronics retailer (much smaller than the giant pictured here). We had to wear suits and ties, we made minimum wage plus commission (believe it or not, we had guys on the sales floor making six figures). Want to hear the craziest thing? We had to KNOW the product that we sold.
I am a realist. The myriad failures of retail are not because, "People don't want to work nowadays." Maybe they don't, but that's a whole different conversation. Shortly after I got out of the industry, the brainiacs and MBA's in the corporate offices, made the decision to take away commissions, and make these $10/hour jobs.
This action principally led to 'salespeople' hiding in the break room from customers, apathy, and 'salespeople' who had to, "go get the brochure" if you asked if this TV had 'picture in picture' or if it came with a universal remote.
Perhaps, we were a little too aggressive and the pendulum was too far in the other direction, however, you never had to look for one of us, we knew how to sell, and we knew what the hell we were talking about.
I have been in this dying electronics chain, SEVERAL times, walking around and never been approached by anybody. Should I put on clothes, drive out to your store, find one of your $10/hour lerps, have to talk to them, and then beg them to 'sell' me something OR should I order it while wearing my trapdoor pajamas in bed, and have it delivered to my doorstep the next day? Hmmmmm, decisions, decisions.
Where did all that foregone commission money go? Of course, it went into the pockets of the brainiac MBA's at corporate.
Yes, now with the Interwebs, retail is going the way of the rotary dial telephone. However, I believe that, for the foreseeable future, there is still a market for specialty retail (not ambivalent order takers) that offers very high levels of customer service AND people who KNOW what the fudge they're talking about.
As a whole, the Baby Boomers are an affluent demographic, and there are still A LOT of grand ma's, grand pa's, aunts, and uncles still rocking flip phones and who don't even have the Interwebs at home.
Rant over.
I've met a lot of people in the last few months - many of them photographers, or students of photography. For many, it seems the passion (of photography) has gone. Many still imagine their lecturer in their head, telling them what could be improved in a photo. That's the problem with critical analysis - you've got to draw the line somewhere, else the soft, little emotive part of ourselves scrunches up and the passion goes away.
Most - if not all - of these people are hugely talented. Their work is utterly top notch - they have compositions, subjects, treatment, concepts & technical skills that dizzy my head. But what many lack is the passion. It's been drummed out of them somehow.
Is it because their life's calling isn't to be a photographer? (or at least, the kind of photography they're doing?) Or is it the studious (yet good-intentioned) lecturer who persistently pushes until all the fun is taken out?
If it's the latter, I find it disheartening that someone else can crush one's spirit when it comes to creative expression. Throw in some insecurity and fear of success and it becomes a soup of problems really - hurdles of any creative industry, really.
A teacher should inspire, revere, throw caution in the wind and pump a student full of good-intentioned energy for them to do amazing things when they graduate.
Or maybe you just have to push people to beyond their limits to bring out their best.

I took this photo many months ago now, and it only seemed right to upload it with a rant of some sort. I was standing at the top of this busy staircase for a good 15 minutes shooting people until he walked past me, down the stairs. He must have had a bad hip, as he walked clunkily and with great difficulty. He rested as you see him here for a good 5 minutes before continuing. During that time no one walked up the stairs.

The world in the hand of the workers!
The Mosque that sits on the hill that can be seen from just about anywhere in Delhi. Just think Catholic church in Oz. as they command all the great views in cities and towns.
So this is a bit of a rant about this lovely place in Delhi. It's certainly not about the Mosque, but the Gatekeepers on the far entrance.
These guys were absolute AR$E*h*l#s.
Not only were they rude, they also wanted to charge people for taking photos, even if you were not carrying a camera. So remember if you get to this Mosque in Delhi, give these so and so's a wide birth and may they be infested with fleas!
Leaving that entrance and walking all the way around to the other Main entrance, the Gatekeepers could not be kinder.
Sometimes when traveling and you come across rogues or bullies it's a good idea to stop and count to ten, as my Mother always said. In this case I was ready to shove my MK11 fair up the guys clacker. I'm glad I calmed down enough to walk to the other side as the Mosque sits on a beautiful vantage hill in the city and the architecture alone is worth it.
Another tip - It's not in many guide books...I don't think.
Not far from the Tibetan Market in Delhi is whats described as a wooden hut (it's actually metal) from here you can catch a rickshaw and you won't get ripped off if you are new to town.
Remember to save this place for longer rides to save money. Also remember to stop along the route and shout your driver (peddler) a cool drink. Even in the cooler months it's bloody hot work.
Here is the problem: If you ever need to log into ANYTHING now you need to remember how you answered any one of a million questions like these.
These are not black and white questions.
These are "hmmm...what mood was i in that day?" questions.
Plus i have no memory and am a smart ass and that doesn't help at all.
It's been in the working for a while. So here it comes:
Vendors
There are alot of third party vendors out there. And I like, buy and support most of them. But some of them are just so obnoxious that it annoys me. People who, make something, with no experience. Lets say, someone gets a brick forge Spartan, Puts a lick of paint on it. And suddenly £7 becomes £25. They don't do it well, they do it badly, and it would cost £10 to make a better one from scratch. And they sell it for £25. WTF! Of course, some people paint it well. Hazardous industries for example. The $80 for his fig is worth it. Unavailible ama with endless possibilities that is. Now we have the people who make a fig. No paint at all. No glue or any of that. Worth £10. Put a proto on it and boom. £25. Protos are nice , yes. And I should probably sell mine, yes. But this is ridiculous! Oh, and the vendors who makes something bad, or maybe ok even, but then sell it for 100 times it's worth. People who add Brickarms to every damn pic with Brickarms in it and Brickforge, Toywiz, Tiny tactical etc. They are the most annoying people! And I suspect the vendors will agree. Time wasters those people are!
Loot
Ok, this isn't really that bad, loot pics are acceptable. Birthdays, Christmas and whatever. But people who just buy 20 sets to show them off? (They do exist.) Those assholes.
Protowhores
These are the bitches who just put protos as their entire wants. They don't have any, they will send messages if you have them saying "pl3ase twad3 uR pw0t0s"
Flickr etiquette
We don't ask much, Grammar, no swearing, no people under a certain age being retarded, clonetards refraining themselves from being clonetards.
But some, don't listen.
One time, some fag fm'd me and some other people asking for comments, adding him as a contact, etc.
I hate him.
General douches and crap
Those guys who make a custom fig/clone, get 1000 views and act like god.
457th reject'ees who won't accept it.
People who think themselves paint masters by buying a citadel paint set.
People who buy citadel paint sets and don't actually do Warhammer/modelling (Lego doesn't count)
Clonetards.
Anyone with customs and/or productions in their name is either a clonetard/idiot or an actually good person.
Bitches who can't take constructive criticism.
People who don't know how to paint.
There are some exceptions. Are the 457th a load of clonetards? No, but anyone gets let in these days practically. If you want a list. Just ask.
Not everyone makes a crap paint job.
If anyone wants a hate list, just ask.
Well they did it twice and they are going to do it more. Monster high gives away FREE products to the free youtubers ( Kittiesmama, wookiewarrior23, clawdeena9 ). They gave them free create a monster products to review. Then monster high told them to make a video for we stop hate. Monster high gave them a wrist band and a t shirt designed by them. Then monster high thanked them with a Robecca Steam and Venus McFlytrap dolls signed by Garrett ( creator of monster high ). It is actually a form of bullying that they are displaying. They are leaving people out! This pisses me off so much to that I won't collect monster high any more!!! So now I will watch Jenna marbles FTW

Just like the steps in the above photo...
This photo was taken at the wedding of my friends Jennie and Rob. Also the same wedding from the "Over Your Shoulder" photo in the stream here.
Anyways - this is a bit of a rant - so buckle up and try to follow me...
First - I had made it a rule a while back to NOT bring big DSLR equipment to friends weddings that I was clearly a GUEST and not there to help out or supply images to the friends because they needed something... except this wedding left me stranded without my Point & Shoot because it was dead... I hate that... TOTALLY HATE THAT.
2. If you don't do what you love and only love some of what you do - then life is going to get in the way of that smaller portion of loving what you want to do ... because what you want to do needs to be scheduled. As I was at this wedding I received a phone call from a photographer that I'd like to call a friend - but we're just on facebook and even though I have helped him out twice in the past - the relationship is mostly technology and less inperson. Anyways - I was asked if I was free on Saturday - he was in a pinch and needed help. I knew I had to ask the wife - and because I knew I had to ask the wife - I wouldn't and couldn't expect someone to hold on and wait for my life - while their business Life needs an answer. Not being able to go out and do what I love and almost more importantly doing it with someone that I hold in high-regard - really pisses me off... Here's a quote from a text message I sent a fellow photographer.
"It sucks that I love to document the very thing that gets in my way to shoot"
And it does suck... but in the end - I did get to have an awesome saturday afternoon with my wife and daughter. Learning from a senior photographer and picking up information will have to wait...
3. Finally - As I attended this wedding and watched my friends wedding photographers work - I was impressed with their control of the room. This room is HELL for a photographer.. ITS HELL... well - I think there is a room worse - but I've never shot in it - only heard stories about its black ceiling... ANYWAYS - this room is DARK WOOD, its rather pretty and intense - but ITS A MESS for a photographer. These guys handled it well. A big powerful strobe in the far corner, 45 degree up into the dark wood. A photographer with a silly stofen on his on camera flash and triggered another strobe on a stick that an assistant carried around. The second shooter even had his OCF (Off Camera Flash) going too - he had what looked like another 580 or something on the SECOND LEVEL (those upstairs you see in this photo) and was triggering that as well.
Where is the rant you might be asking after reading all of that of which you didnt care about ?
The rant is that these 3 guys look liek someone ran over their grandmothers on their grandmothers way to freaking Bingo... Holy Crap. Dudes - you're at freaking wedding - could you look, just remotely kind of interested in whats happening around you ?
I am sure their images will be fine - even great - I'd love to see the dramatic lighting created with all the different off camera lights created - but wow - I'd really like to see people who want to be there... not people who are upset that they aren't at the beach...
I doubt anyone will even read all of this...

Be forewarned: This review is excessively long and will contain rants and personal opinions. Leave now if you don’t want to be bored out of your mind.
Here’s one of my first dolls of the year, Duchess Swan, daughter of Odette the Swan Queen. I’ve been hyping about Duchess since September when her profile was revealed on the official website. Having her right now feels like a dream come true. My EAH Signature collection hasn't had any new additions since August of last year and I seriously hate it when my signature collection’s complete because I literally have nothing to look forward to…
I think it’s safe to say that Duchess is the prettiest Ever After High doll, hands down. Like, oh my Gosh! Need I explain myself? I’m pretty sure every other collector who has Duchess can agree. She’s just EXTREMELY beautiful. I really love her look. The doe eyes, the jet black hair with streaks of mauve and white, the pale olive skin (it’s the same shade of pale as lighter-skinned East Asian dolls have). The makeup is gorgeous! I love the ruby pink lips and eyeshadow. Unlike the previous dolls, she has two-toned lipstick on her lower lip, which to me is absolutely genius because it makes her lips look so luscious and plump (though it’s actually just an illusion). Nice touch, Mattel! Her rouge though is very light, to the point that it looks like she isn’t wearing any. But I kind of like that, because there a lot of people in real life who love to wear all sorts of makeup, but HATE putting on blush.
As some of you may already know, Duchess is on the taller EAH body like Cerise is. That basically means her legs are a tad bit longer, but all her other proportions are still similar to the regular (and even the shorter) EAH girls. I've always liked the taller EAH body...on Duchess it makes her look graceful and poised when I pose her. Also like Cerise, she has the longer fingernails hand sculpt. I don’t know why she has them (Cerise had them to make it look like she has claws) but I like them. They’re a lot daintier and more feminine-looking than the regular hands. Duchess's face mold is the second version of the basic EAH head (trademarked 2013) which was also used on Holly, Poppy and Lizzie.
Her ensemble looks amazing, overall. I really hate it when people just complain about “inaccuracies” on her outfit design and fail to see how great her new design is. Why can’t you people just appreciate the design we have now? The team that creates the dolls and webisodes are separate—they don’t work together, so of course the dolls are going to be a bit different. The main purpose of the Ever After High webisodes is to promote the toys and merch—it does NOT serve as the dolls’ reference material of sorts. Not to mention they’re developed at different periods of time. So a webisode character’s design may come first, even though Mattel hasn’t even started designing how the character’s design would be interpreted to a doll. Seriously is that so hard to understand? Personally, I love the changes overall and they’re actually quite an improvement compared to how she looked in the webisodes.
Sorry I just had to vent that out. Where were we? Ah, the outfit. I love that it’s part-tutu/part-loli dress. The shades of pale purple used on her ensemble are really nice (yes, there’s more than one shade). I see shades ranging from mauve to lavender to thistle to wisteria. The skirt has actually two layers: the outer layer is a sparkly transparent tulle with drawn white feathers and sparkles and the inner layer is a printed fabric with a crisscross design. And I really love the black and silver accessories...they complement the ensemble quite nicely. The necklace, earrings, bracelet and ring are very nicely sculpted and I love it that they’re not too loud or showy (I hate it when jewelry attracts too much attention). My fave accessory is the corset belt. It really gives Duchess that high fashion edge. Duchess is an edgy girl so it suits her quite well.
I kind of don’t get the headband though. I remember back when we only had blurry pictures of her, I actually thought her headband looked like an ice cream cone with tentacles. Of course, now that I have her I can clearly see that it’s not…but sometimes when I look at her from afar, I see the same thing again. But, uh, whatever. I also love her shoes. Seriously these are some of the best pairs I’ve seen so far! I really love heel-less shoes. They look painfully scary since there are no heels to support it, but at the same time they look so elegant and graceful ‘cause it prompts the wearer to look like she’s tiptoeing while wearing them. But of course it suits Duchess since she’s a ballerina and all, so I guess she’s used to it already. The laces are a really nice finishing touch because it makes them look like ballet shoes (even though they’re technically not).
I’ll admit though I kind of wish her stockings were white…but these black fishnets actually make sense. She has black-colored accessories after all, so it would be more than appropriate that her stockings matched that. My only issue though is that they’ve used the same black fishnets for so many characters like Raven and Apple and Cupid and Holly that I actually am already bored of them. I’m determined to replace them. I just need to find the perfect ones.
Overall she’s just absolutely magnificent. There’s no doubt about it. This is Mattel at their finest. Overall I’m just so pleased. I have no major complaints at all. I’m really excited for the Ever After High brand again. I can't wait for MOAR!
Just ranting about the complicated and hard to use process for accessing my Social Security account I've had for 12 years. Don't try calling - wait time to speak to a human after multiple messages to go to my SS account online. What's happening to us? Dec. 2024
A similiar upload of a previous photo.
You know those times, when you just feel as if you can't move on? Or you feel as if the world continues to spin, but you're stuck?
I'm a selfish person. I'll admit it to the fullest extent. I wanted him to love me, and no one else. I wanted him to hold me in his arms and never let go. I felt high, and he was the drug.
But eventually, the drug wears off. You begin to want more and more. Soon, there's no more of the drug left. You've used it up. And the horror and realization that you'll never be high off him again begins to dawn, and the pain is worse than the withdrawal.
My drug's gone. It isn't ever coming back. The drug I thought I was going to have for the rest of my life. Gone.
Pain is horrible. When you yourself are the one suffering, you don't want anyone else to suffer. Everything you do, while in pain, is crap. Complete crap. Even photos.
But, as in most things, there are solutions. Rehab for one. I got over him, by just breathing, at first. Thinking how lucky I am not to have to rely on that guy for my high on life. I have my friends for that.
I found that the guy who will help me over this will not be another drug, will not be morphine to numb the pain. He'll be the sun, my oxygen, my blood. He'll be the one that erases the pain, not causes it to lurk in the shadows, waiting. He'll be the one that I want and need, without the ill effects of a drug. He'll be the one I can rely on, to set in the night, and wake up in the morning and be there for me.
Sorry for this extremely melodramatic rant. I needed to get this off my chest. Sorry, also, for not posting photos, and completely disappearing for 12 days. I'll be uploading more as soon as I can.
