A small, but unique area of rainforest on the Howe Range that the woodchipping crews couldn't get to so it was set aside as a reserve. A walking track leads through an amazing section along Maxwells Creek and this ancient ecosystem but the track is getting hard to follow. There is an unusually large number of Pinkwood or Eastern Leatherwood trees here along with Soft and Prickly Tree Ferns, Ribbon Fern and Orchids such as the Orange Blossom and Tangle Root Orchid. A nice walk on a hot day but watch out, I had seven bloodsucking Leeches attached to my ankles at the end of the day.
I have always been fascinated with fire. And as blue is one of my favorite colors, I have often found myself staring entranced at the flame on a stove... All this one needs is a nice pot of chili :P

FTT-05 Close Enough to Catch... Almost!
FIDO (Fight, Intercept, Destroy, and Overcome) has been the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense flight test program mascot, created by Lockheed Martin Systems Engineer Gary Vonderlinden.
Lockheed Martin and the THAAD Project Office conducted five flight tests at White Sands Missile Range for the Engineering Manufacturing and Development phase of the program from November 2005 through June 2007.

The southernmost 18 miles of the 80 mile Sawatch Range which runs on a NNW to SSE axis in central Colorado. I took this from Kaufman Ridge which is the south end of the Mosquito Range on the east side of the Arkansas Valley .
