The random dance is a perennial favorite at MX. Kids are randomly paired with another student, and after an ice cream social and some board games, they dress "randomly" for the dance itself.
The sign reads "Fuck the Past." This wasn't listed on the official program but someone installed it anyway -- there was a snow machine blowing snow all over the place right here too.

We had a quiet day today, got up late (well, I did, Lydia and the kids were up much earlier - it's Lyd's turn for a lie-in tomorrow when I get up with the kids to watch Mythbusters and Match of the Day), visited friends, got a haircut . . . and tried to come up with something cool for my 365.
This shot was borne of complete desperation - I was trying to get a shot of me smiling today - y'know, to try and lighten the overall tone of my photostream a bit, but it wasn't happening. I always look like a knob! It was getting dark so I dug out Joe's reading lamp (haven't used it for ages) to try out a bit of ghetto lighting.
The recipie for this shot was *adopts Blue Peter presenter stance*:
1 x the photo in colour
1 x the image in B&W
4 x various textures
1,000,000 x different blending of layers.
Gave it a good stir in Lightroom before adding the ingredients together, then whisked it all up in Photoshop.
I erased the section of each texture that covered the body, apart from one where I only erased over the arms.
This shot has no meaning whatsoever . . . but at least it doesn't have lyrics plastered all over it, ha ha! And I quite like it. Yes . . . yes I do. Although I'm not sure why I decided it was a good idea to have grey coloured arms?
I think I need to get out more often, find some cool places to shoot a photo in so I'm not always shooting at a magnolia wall with hardly any room. Thanks to {rebecca} and Andresblah for pointing this out! Umm, that's not being sarcastic you understand, I really mean it. Sometimes you can't see what's in front of you y'know?
I can hardly complain that there's nowhere good to shot around Weymouth because (a) me and Disco~Stu have found plenty of cool places on our travels and (b) I've seen loads of places I'd like to shoot in, but don't have the confidence to go alone in case people see me. I've thought of a way round that though: I can take Joe with me, it's a good excuse for a bit of father/son bonding time and I know he's interested in photography because he's asked for a camera for his birthday.
Oh and one other thing that's been on my mind all day: yesterday, if it sounded like I was comparing myself to Stephen Poff . . . I most certainly wasn't. I was comparing my style but not skills in both photography or Photoshop. Ha ha! I got a loooooooong way to go before I'm that good - but I'm enjoying finding out how!

I've no idea why Colchester have chosen elephants as their friendly guides to show you the route to walk from Colchester North station to the town centre, but they have. I've also no idea why these two children wanted to be in my photo but they waited quite patiently for me to take it.
When I picked up this drink I was expect delicious sweet lemonade. However this drink is one of the worst ideas I've ever come across. Someone (who should be shot) decided they should make non-alcoholic beer tasting soft drinks. It tastes somewhat like a Corona but non-alcoholic and more cheap. If you like beer this is the drink for you. But for $4 you might as well buy yourself the real thing.

01 - I am frequently informed that I have a "dry" sense of humour, but I don't know what this means. I used to think the opposite would be a "moist" sense of humour, but lately I am thinking the opposite would be a "funny" sense of humour.
02 - My first TV appearance was on "Mad About" with Michael Bentine. The week I was on we were "mad about" music. I met Suzi Quatro who was the guest that week. I was ten years old - curse you impossible age difference!
03 - I feel tired almost all the time, except at night.
04 - I don't have a driving licence, but I think I'd be a good driver.
05 - I pay more than £300 every month to clear my debts. In 6 years time I can stop. I consider declaring myself bankrupt but think this would count against me if I wanted to emigrate. I'm embarrassed by this.
06 - I've thrown up blood before because I drank too much whiskey (that was a long time ago, but it has happened more than once).
07 - I thought the Sahara desert was the furthest south I have ever been until I checked on a map and found, disappointingly, Disney World is the furthest south I have ever been. San Francisco is the furthest west, Budapest the furthest east and Edinburgh the furthest north.
Edinburgh is about two hours drive from where I was born and grew up.
08 - I really do think that reading Jack Kerouac changed my life.
09 - I've been offered £1350 by a French advertising company for one of my photos, but I think its a scam.
10 - I'm not a very good conversationalist and find it difficult to make small talk with people. I like people, but I think my inability to produce innane jibber jabber makes me seem unfriendly. Chit chat is a skill that I've never picked up.

12 - I can't remember people's birthdays. I've tried. I'm sorry that I forgot yours but its really nothing personal. I really couldn't give a shit if you forget mine. In fact I'd prefer it.
13 - As I get older I find more things are starting to annoy me.
14 - I'm thinking about moving to New Zealand, although I've never been there. It would totally smash my "furthest south" record.
15 - I really am very sorry.
16 - When I was at college one of my friends said "When I first met you I thought you were a twat, but actually you're alright". I see this as more of a compliment than I should.
On the other hand my friend Alex described me as "being like a table", which is more enigmatic. Its possible I misheard him, but I actually think its quite accurate and quite astute.
