OK, I've taken over 500 photos today (so far). One of the last great days of the year so I've been going crazy outside.
When I saw this image in my upload folder it was one of the "ah ha" moments. Instant favoriate and possible wall portrait. This is why I take photos. Makes all the work worth while.
The locals join together to rake and clean to communal areas. "We don't hire folks to do this."

I feel like she is eyeing me as only a trained black belt would before unleashing several quick blows with the rake.
Well... ok... it's late and I've been way too busy with work so I'm feeling a little silly.
G'nite.

No, I didn't garden today, but I love my tool rack in the garage. I bought these tools last summer when I made my first foray into gardening.
I do have a lot of gardening to do this year. Many bushes need to come out and many rocks (shale stone) need to be moved. Not looking forward to it...
I kept asking everyone if Aunt Pat seemed a little loopy, but no one saw it until she started raking the water as if it were her front yard. Don't worry, Uncle Joe has a call in to the nut house.
I've messed around with various methods of measuring fork rake. I'm really liking this one. It seems accurate and repeatable. The pics don't show it but I tried it on two different forks, and I measured them with the rake going to my right (as shown) as well as to my left. All the measurements were very close.
The fork shown was designed to have 66mm of rake, but it's 67.5. The other fork was supposed to be 45, but it's 43.
I'm disappointed that the errors are in opposite directions, because it means that I can't blame the calibration of my jig... What can I blame?
Here I've positioned a pair of .250" parallels next to the magnetic block and I'm using two squares to align the side of the block with the center line of the 1" bar. Once the magnetic block is in the right position I'll turn the magnet on and lock the block down to the iron table.
This little work of art was hanging out at the Grand Rapids Home and Garden. Fun stuff to make with your garden tools.

Looks like the one abandoned on our farm back home.
(I mean I think it's a dump rake and not a harrow or something)
