The sky was mostly covered with cloud in the late afternoon I spent at the Carr Villa Memorial Park. But then as the sun broke through a rainbow appeared (actually two as you can see a lighter one above the prominent one). Frankly, I was amazed and took a few seconds more than usual to think about how best to photograph what I believed I was seeing (or was it really just a figment of a wild imagination). But no, these rainbows really did appear (although there was no rain), and here's the proof.
This is a different perspective on a double rainbow that appeared in the sky on a rainy evening this summer.
This is a full circle rainbow on Quiraing in Isle of Skye. Unfortunately my lens wasn't wide enough to get the full circle

I like to get up early and walk before everyone else is awake. As soon as I shut the door and headed out, it started to pour, but in Kauai, rain only lasts a minute or two and out comes the sun. Sure enough that is what happened and I was rewarded with this rainbow.
Socorro, New Mexico.
I was stuck in my car as a spring thunderstorm surrounded me. Suddenly the clouds opened up for just a moment and this rainbow appeared... and then disappeared.
So, like with a falling star, I made a wish... after taking this pic.

Just a rainbow. Was driving to work and their was nothing but telephone pole wires and crud on the ground, so decided to just do the sky by itself. It's going to rain all weekend, so maybe there will be more rainbows. Roanoke, Texas, USA, July 2018

So far, it's been a once-in-a-lifetime for me to have seen this rare event. Shot on the high basalt plains of northern Nevada, an intense storm rolled through around midnight. As the front moved to the north, the full moon iluminated the rain dumping from the clouds and created this moonlit rainbow. I got lucky with the lightening happening at the moment of shutter release. This image is a digital painting of the scene. #nightscaper #rainbow #thunderstorm #lightening #night #nevada #jarbidge #moonlight

I'm ever after the perfect rainbow image....they're kinda hard to get and change very fast!! But one day I will get the full rainbow!! lol...have a wonderful evening everyone. I've had quite the day with the dog at the vets...and bushed...going to bed! :)
The weather last week on Isle of Skye was not the best I have to admit - however we did get to witness a few rainbows :)
We arrived at Sligachan to shoot the waterfalls at sunset and as we got out of the car and walked down the road, my pace was getting faster and faster and I was setting the tripod up as I walked!!
I didn't know how long the rainbow would last so i fired a few shots with no filters to quickly capture it, and then as I realised it was hanging around I put on the poloriser and soft grad and managed to capture this.
I was tempted to clone out the lady on the bridge, but she ads some scale and she was also admiring the same wonderful view as I.
Taken with Kase Poloriser and 0.9 Soft Grad

A rainbow lying low on a mountain in Strandir, Iceland. I named the picture rainbow island because the land property under the rainbow is called Eyjar which means islands. The colors looked a lot more vibrant to the eye than what the picture shows though. Also, it was taken from a moving boat on in windy circumstances, plus rain, so they are a bit fuzzy...
