July 1, 2014. I took this picture while standing on the West Toronto Railpath. I am looking north from the bridge that crosses Bloor. The towers and rectangular brick building are the Crossways, a residential-shopping complex at Bloor and Dundas. The rectangular frames are for a lightbox that will be part of the Bloor-Dundas mobility hub that will connect the TTC's Dundas West subway station with the Bloor stop on GO's Georgetown line. The construction of the hub is part of Metrolinx's Georgetown South Project that will include a new track and a platform for the Union-Pearson airport express. The expansion of the Georgetown line has been controversial among local residents who want Metrolinx to electrify the corridor immediately. Metrolinx promises to use electric trains in the future, but for now will continue to use diesel.
