2016 International Steampunk Symposium presented by The Pandora Society and held at the Eastgate Holiday Inn in Cincinnati, Ohio. Here's a better shot of her. The bunny ears and the necklace that says "I'm late" are in keeping with the Alice in Wonderland theme. I'll bet there are a lot of women around that would love to have her hair.

Once you've dressed up your dog in a bumble bee costume, you're actually capable of anything.
Happy Easter.

Halfway through January and I had begun the morning in Vaughn, New Mexico in sleet, snow and murky skies that frequently became fog in the higher elevations. 65 miles later, I had traversed a slushy US54 down into the lower elevations of the basin between the Sacramento and San Andres mountain ranges, trading slush for scattered rain showers, temps in the mid 50s, and even occasional sunlight. After a stop in Alamogordo, the next leg of the trip along US70 passed White Sands National Monument, crossing the missile range before going over the San Andres Mountains via San Augustin Pass. I stopped briefly at one of the pullouts used as an occasional truck weighing and inspection station to shoot the clouds and rain that were playing about the approach to the pass (US70 curves to the right and begins climbing near the distant squall line and base of the mountains...). It was more light-play than color on this particular day and a couple of different levels of noise filtration were also required to make this relatively acceptable but, to a certain degree, I think that noise adds to the character in this case. Upgraded gear will be sooo welcome... someday! (1-15-2017)

Photo of my bedroom's TV at the time. I do not remember the TV set's brand but the VCR's brand was Sharp. I had rabbit ears antenna for my TV to pick up Miami stations, which were not easy to get at my home south of West Palm Beach. In my home, only the living room TV was connected to cable.
Third Street, Brooklyn, autumn 1970 --
Looking out the window on a bright weekend afternoon, a few months before Jenny was born.
This was taken in the living room of our apartment in Park Slope, facing south toward Third Street. A couple small things to notice: we had a record player, because there were no CD's, no iPods, and almost everyone had a collection of LPs. Also, the rabbit ears on the television set were necessary, because there was no cable TV, no satellite TV. But all in all, it was a pleasant apartment (half a brownstone, two full floors, for only $400 per month), and we stayed there from September 1970 until April 1972, when we moved to the brownstone that we purchased on Berkeley Place (a "brownstone" town house which we purchased for the princely sum of $42,000 -- but which, according to a real estate listing in the spring of 2014, is now on the market for $3,140,000).
Near the summit of Rabbit Ears. A three-exposure HDR. The wind was averaging 27 knots/hour, and it was difficult to hold the camera steady for three shots.
Goodland, Indiana
Newton County
I don't think I'm going to admit what edits I did this time other than I used the following cloud texture. With the edit it sort of looks like a tornado is coming. When I was looking up the town to mark this on a map and find out what county it's in, I found out that this place has 163% more chance of being hit by a tornado than your U.S. average town. It also has a greater average than that of Indiana. Crazy..
A few notes of pride: One, a photo of mine was used on a website! This is the first time that's happened other than a blog. Speaking of firsts, Lee left me my first testimonial. I never really expected to get one of those. Thanks Lee! Next thanks so much for the warm reception to yesterday's Chicago dusk photo. As I write this it's my 2nd most favorited and 5th most commented picture in less than a day! It also doesn't have any icon comment clutter which is just amazing!

Have a great day and week ahead!
I helped the kids make these shirts in the classroom during my two-week intersession (while I played stay-at-home mom)!
Though not Christian, I have always enjoyed taking my camera to New York's Easter Parade to capture the costumes and excitement that make it unique.
Sadly, in 2020, like so many New Yorkers, I am self-sequestering at home, trying to stay safe and help slow or stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and even if I weren't, there was no Easter Parade to attend (for exactly the same reason).
As luck would have it, I never edited and posted my photos from the 2019 parade, so with ample time on my hands. here are some of my favorites from 2019. Hopefully, life and the parade can return to normal (or whatever you'd call it) in 2021.
