9/29/2010 Slide C1: Available codecs in Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 Pro on a Windows 7 64-bit computer. The only user-added filter is "Apple None" -- a QuickTime video codec for an uncompressed 8-bit per channel RGBA file in a .mov wrapper (see next slide C2).
A test file was encoded on the Win7-64 machine with the standard EE4 codecs plus "Apple None" enabled. Video quality of the mp4 output file was equivalent to mp4 files compressed with EE4 on a Vista-32 computer (see previous slides P1-P8). Therefore, encoding with a reduced set of codecs did not impact video quality.

I use QuickTime to play 6 .mov videos to test Windows 7 performance. You can see the CPU has used 80%, I used /vista to test also, there are no differences.

This one is using the automated transition whereby a photo of the Quicktime player and the contents are appearing at the same time. The photo of the people is a video still from a video made of an exhibition of the publishing house I'm involved with. The scenario (false but suggested) is that I am calling from Iran (as I couldn't make the show) to see how the show went - further regression.
This series of pictures have been taken using my Sony Ericsson K800i mobile phone – using the negative setting. The series was taken during a candle-lit evening (a story in itself) and have been posted unedited.
These pictures fit within three types, based upon layers of regression. The intial shots are in negative, after which I would add to my computer and photo the second level by photographing the screen. Upon repeating this for a second time I'd achieved a 3rd level of regression.
Due to the levels of regression and screen presentation I was able to reverse the negative, or reverse the positive from a previous negative - basically creating interesting results.
In the latter shots the only light is the screen light thus the surrounding areas appear white and only slight hints of the keyboard is seen.
I have added additional effects by trying to time the shutter with transitions on the screen slideshow.
I took the regression to a 4th level but the quality was getting too distorted.

Here's a setup for a shot I worked on in 1999. This was the lighting setup for an interior QuickTime VR panorama for the 2000 Pontiac Bonneville.
9/28/2010: Image and color profile P3 of H.264 mp4 file encoded with Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 Pro. The image is a TIFF screen capture taken while playing the file in Windows Media Player 12 on a Win7-64 machine. The color charts are generated by Adobe Premiere Pro CS3.
There is little noticeable difference among the mp4 video, wmv video, and source file (see previous images P1 and P2).

A quick photo taken with my new Canon. I bought the camera primarily to take videos, but it also has very good image quality as well as 1080p HD video recording.
* I took this camera back the next day because it saved videos in an unusual format (.mov) that wasn't compatible on my computer programs except for Quicktime, so the videos did not play correctly on anything other than Quicktime or the program that came with the camera. If you plan to do anything with the videos on your computer, I would recommend a different camera, if you are looking for picture quality, then you can use the above picture as an example.
