Quick pic to show off new painted body parts and some random crappy shotgun mod I threw together. Painted arms and legs are 100% inspired by the one and only @detroitika . They’re not suppose to represent a specific camo and I kinda just made it up along the way. This figure is NOT suppose to be historically accurate so I don’t wanna hear it, capeesh?
Windig ist es im rauen Norden Norwegens eigentlich immer. An manchen Tagen fiel sogar das Gehen schwer, an einem Tag hat mich der Wind umgeworfen, an einem anderen meinen Fotorucksack 1 m in Richtung Abgrund befördert. Dass dies so ist, wusste ich. Aus diesem Grund wollte ich mein robustes Stativ "iFootage Gazelle TC" mitnehmen, aber 22 kg Gepäck für eine Foto-Wander-Camping-Reise in den Hohen Norden, da muss man Kompromisse machen. Und so hat mich mein "Manfrotto 732CY Carbon-Basalt" mit dem kleinen Kugelkopf begleitet, mit Kugelkopf und Schnellwechsel-Platte nur 1.200 Gramm schwer. Ja, es ist nicht ganz so stabil wie das große Stativ, es ist in den Funktionen etwas eingeschränkt und es ist kleiner, aber ich bin auf meiner Reise wieder mal erstaunlich gut damit zurechtgekommen 😊.

It's always windy in the rough north of Norway. On some days it was even difficult to walk, one day the wind knocked me over, another day it carried my camera backpack 1m towards the abyss. I knew that this was the case. For this reason I wanted to take my robust "iFootage Gazelle TC" tripod with me, but 22 kg of luggage for a photo-hiking-camping trip to the far north means you have to make compromises. And so my "Manfrotto 732CY Carbon-Basalt" with the small ball head accompanied me, weighing just 1,200 grams with the ball head and quick-change plate. Yes, it's not quite as stable as the big tripod, it's somewhat limited in its functions and it's smaller, but I managed surprisingly well with it on my trip 😊.

I stood out in the cold waiting for this shot for about 30 minutes with my camera in position, focused and ready to shoot as soon as the color appeared. The color only lasted about 3-4 minutes before it was gone and the clouds turned dark and grey. It was a "Quick Sunset" but well worth the wait.
This photo hit Explore for 12-21-12 at #495 at around 9:00 am on 12-22-12, 45 minutes later is was up to #426 and as of 2:00 pm local time it has moved all the way up to # 293.

Four Union Pacific EMD SD40-2s and a loaded coal train has just eased to a stop in Las Vegas, Nevada where the diesels will be quickly serviced before a fresh crew takes this train westward towards California. – The tall building in the background is the Union Plaza Hotel & Casino, which was built on the site of the original railroad depot. – As of this March 19th, 1986 photo Union Plaza also housed the Amtrak station and ticket counter and was supposedly the only such railroad facility in the United States located inside a casino. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

Ein Fischbrötchen und eine Pommes-Spezial an der Landungsbrücke in Hamburg ist inzwischen bei jedem Besuch der Hansestadt Tradition. Der eigentliche Hochwasser Schutzdeich wurde hier neu gestaltet. Bietet den Straßenkünstlern eine groß Bühne, lädt ein zum Flanieren, sowie zum Fotografieren. Die beiden DT5 Einheiten 417/418 mit Vollwerbung überraschten mich völlig und konnten nur noch in letzter Sekunde mit dem Handy aufgenommen werden. Sie werben für die App des Hamburger Verkehrs Verbund HVV.

A fish sandwich and a fries special at the Landungsbrücken in Hamburg has now become a tradition every time you visit the Hanseatic city. The actual flood protection dike was redesigned here. Offers street artists a large stage and invites you to stroll and take photos. The two DT5 units 417/418 with full advertising completely surprised me and could only be recorded with my cell phone at the last second. The Bates Manufacturing Company was established in Lewiston, Maine in 1850 by Benjamin Bates. It quickly became one of the largest textile manufacturers in New England and transformed Lewiston from a struggling agricultural town into a booming industrial city. By 1857, the Bates Mill in Lewiston ran 36,000 spindles, employed 1,000 hands, and annually turned out 5.7 million yards of the best quality of cotton goods. Even after winning multiple achievements and awards for his textiles, including “Best Pantaloon Stuffs” and “Best Plain and Fancy Cotton Fabrics”, Bates wanted more. Accordingly, in 1858 the Bates Manufacturing Company wove the first Bates bedspread.
Upon the start of the Civil War, most New England mills started selling their cotton stock, assuming that the war would only last 90 days. Instead, Benjamin Bates bought as much cotton as he could find (despite the skyrocketing prices) and became the main supplier of Union textiles during the 4 year war. Even afterward, despite post-war depression, the Bates Manufacturing Company prospered and continued to expand. It was at this time that the French-Canadian population began to immigrate to Lewiston for work; even today the city of Lewiston continues to have a great French-Canadian influence (and many of the current mill workers have French-Canadian ancestors that began their American lives as mill workers).[Company website].
Lewiston is also the home of Bates College co-founded by Benjamin Bates.

Our regular male sparrowhawk. We also see a female, but not so frequently.
My regular 'spar fan' visitors will know that I once witnessd a male spar doing a **prey pass to his female, in mid-air, in my own garden. It was awesome to see, but I wasn't quick enough to get the shot. The female just seemed to come out of nowhere and then she was off. Huh, that's my excuse, anyway.

Also known as Zhangjiajie National Park, this park in the Hunan Province of China is home to over 3,000 quartz sandstone pillars.
There are over 500 different tree species within Wulingyuan National Park.
The quartzite sandstones pillars in the park reach as high as over 2,625 feet (800 meters) tall!
There are 560 other scenic sites to visit within Wulingyuan National Park besides the sandstone pillars, such as the Golden Whip Stream.
This was the first national forest park in China.
