This is a "Question Mark Butterfly" It may be my first

Polygonia interrogationis, the question mark, is a North American nymphalid butterfly. It lives in wooded areas, city parks, generally in areas with a combination of trees and open space. The color and textured appearance of the underside of its wings combine to provide camouflage that resembles a dead leaf. The adult butterfly has a wingspan of 4.5–7.6 cm (1.8–3.0 in). Its flight period is from May to September. "The silver mark on the underside of the hindwing is broken into two parts, a curved line and a dot, creating a ?-shaped mark that gives the species its common name.

We're Here: ?? The Question Mark??

Scott was browsing the Nintendo e-shop this evening and came across an ad for Mario Day. I'd never heard of such a day before but was happy to use it as a theme for today's photo since I had nothing else in the camera.

Luckily for me, we have an abundance of Mario items and figurines scattered around, so a prop was easy to come by.

I originally wanted to shoot this block with a Mario silhouette but Mario proved to be too drunk to work today (he kept toppling over) so when Scott suggested bokeh, I said that works for me.

I Googled just what made today Mario day and now that I know, I feel a little silly for not putting it together. It's the date put together, 'Mar10'.

Clever.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

New Beginning

I don't often see this woodland butterfly in the garden with it's wings open. It was a real thrill to catch it.

I recently purchased an orange bird feeder to attract Baltimore Orioles. Well, today a Question Mark butterfly was out in the rain enjoying an orange. At least something is using the feeder.

How can we do better for our planet and our people?

About ten days ago I posted a photo of a question mark caterpillar. This is the question mark butterfly, so called because of a tiny marking on the underside. The photo was taken at Butterfly Haven in Pingree, Idaho.
