Question Marks and Eastern Commas were "puddling" on a "leaky" maple that dripped water and sap from holes sapsuckers had drilled into the trunk.

These species fly here on warm days in the winter.

I found some interesting dices at a local second hand shop, for this week's Macro Mondays topic.

The wooden Mannequin brought them nicely to life.

I used a candle as light source and moved it around during the long exposure time, to add some mystic to the scene.

The picture has been cropped to fit the 3" rule.

Photo taken for the Macro Mondays theme Magnet.

In this photo a bar magnet has picked up several small metal nuts from a child’s metal meccano set. The nuts each have a maximum width of 7mm. I’ve taken the liberty of arranging these nuts into the shape of a question mark. This represents the question of balance between the invisible forces of gravity and magnetism, with the latter being the stronger here ensuring that the metal nuts are held within the magnet’s magnetic field and look like they are balancing in mid air and don’t fall to the ground.

The magnet is a bar magnet with just one end exposed, the rest encased in blue plastic. The magnet is at the end of a 40 cm length of wooden rod and at right angles to the rod. It comes from a toy I had as a child. The magnet is permanent and quite strong.

These days the magnet is used for picking up spilled small metal items, such as sewing pins, paper clips or metal nuts and bolts, which readily adhere to it.

Maximum distance in photo is 4.5cm

A Question Mark butterfly

has no answer.

Last year I followed sculptor and friend Mark Rietmeijer during the process of creating a sculpture. On jan. 24. he started working on a new one and asked me to make pictures again.

This time the material is Norwegian Pink - Rose Norwegian, composite marble, multiple stratification, 50 x 70 x 80 cm., 480 kgms.

Adagium to his new sculpture: I never tackled or solved any problems in my life, but instead I learn to dance with them and by considering them as 'questionmarks with wings' I try to escape their weight and gravity.
