Last year I followed sculptor and friend Mark Rietmeijer during the process of creating a sculpture. On jan. 24. he started working on a new one and asked me to make pictures again.

This time the material is Norwegian Pink - Rose Norwegian, composite marble, multiple stratification, 50 x 70 x 80 cm., 480 kgms.

Adagium to his new sculpture: I never tackled or solved any problems in my life, but instead I learn to dance with them and by considering them as 'questionmarks with wings' I try to escape their weight and gravity.

I can call my butterfly garden a success after seeing this anglewing nectaring and then a giant swallowtail laying eggs on my rue plant! I may have to go buy more rue for the hungry, hungry caterpillars!

Je n'ai pas boudé mon plaisir de photographier sous toutes les coutures cette fresque murale sur le thème de la Commune de Paris, rue de la ferme Savy (où furent situées les dernières barricades), au bas du parc de Belleville à Paris. It was back to summer today with 81 degrees Fahrenheit and sunny skies. Once again, the butterflies did not disappoint. We saw 12 species including two Question Marks in their bright 'fabricii' fall form with elegant lavender wing fringe.

Tomorrow we will drop to 65 according to forecast. The afternoon breeze signaled the change already.

I recently posted an Eastern Comma, one of two closely related anglewing butterflies. This is the Question Mark, as identified by the little dot near the comma. Rather unremarkable butterflies when viewed laterally, but when they open their wings they reveal brilliant oranges and blacks.

Spent several hours at the gardens and was on my way out when I spotted this lovely Question Mark butterfly basking in the evening sunlight. The summer form seem to have more vivid coloring on the undersides.

Winged creatures will come

If I don't rake the apples

After they've fallen

So many choices!

Shot for Our Daily Challenge :"First World Problems”

Good morning everyone and I hope you had a nice weekend. Although butterfly season has been all but officially over here for a while I'll still be posting late season butterfly pics for the foreseeable future. So please bear with it until I delete my files. With that said, for today is two quick pics of another Question Mark (Polygonia interrogationis), more specifically a "winter form" individual, which is typical for October.

This past year, particularly late in the season, I saw more "angle-wing" butterflies as they are sometimes called, than I have in years. Being Question Marks and Eastern Commas, of which I also posted a pic of five (5) individuals feeding together on the same tree. Or at least trying to. An unusual sight for me to come across.

It along with the second pic of the above Question Mark can be found in the comment section and my stream.

Thank you for stopping by...and I hope you have a truly great day and week.

The "other side" (perhaps I should say the "prettier side") of the same butterfly as the last post.

AB FAV for today…

As far as I can remember, there was a question mark at the end of my sentence!

That's how I gathered a load of knowledge, never been afraid to ask a question, so the subject of this image a very useful tool all through my life!

Always hungry for the how and why.

Yet, I, luckily, do not suffer from morbid curiosity about other people. I am a good listener, they can tell me things, I'm interested, but I will rarely ask personal questions.

I don't consider this indifference, I call it respect.

Think before you ask... there are questions... and: ...you HAVE to be able to live with the answer!

If and when I want to photograph someone or something, I ask, if the answer is yes, I am happy, if it is no, I respect it, at least I ASKED!

There are these four ways of answering questions. Which four?

1. There are questions that should be answered categorically [straightforwardly yes, no, this, that].

2. There are questions that should be answered with an analytical (qualified) answer [defining or redefining the terms].

3. There are questions that should be answered with a counter-question.

4. There are questions that should be put aside.

These are the four ways of answering questions. Buddha

This QM was the size of a Comma - but had the diagnostic question mark on its wings below. Black is their summer form - and they have that beautiful lavender trim.

Spring is in the Air! My first butterfly capture of 2023. This Question Mark flitted around to several spots before I was able to get a nice angle shot.

I spied this beauty, by the river's edge perched upon a rock. A rare find around here. See below for a different perspective. He was there and gone so very quick, These were the best viewpoints I was able to capture

See shot next to this to see the question Mark..

According to my research, this is a Question Mark butterfly, or in this case, an upside-down Question Mark butterfly, which in its native tongue would be El Signo de Interrogación Invertido Mariposa, or something like that.

Question Mark Butterfly, European Hornet and Red Admiral Butterfly. The butterflies are maneuvering towards the Hornet to gain access to the holes in the Willow Oak bark.

Yellow head Gouldian Finch male on a branch.

Here's my new take on the theme of this friday: tip / punta.

As you see in the other two photos in my photostream...I was a little bit confused. Maria was so kind to remind me of details for the theme...giving me some tips. 😂

That's why I thought to myself:

What was the point again?

...and here we go!

Thank you for taking the time for viewing, commenting and / or adding this photo to your favorites.

I was not expecting to photograph a butterfly on this walk but you take the opportunities that the world gives you.
