Lomo's Latest Stick Grenade - Spinner 360
Wow, be sure to be prepared for questioning in airports if you bring this with you. The latest and coolest camera from Lomo looks just like a stick grenade, just look at the profile and you can imagine what it looks like in an X-ray scan.
Hold the handle with one hand, pull the ring with the other and release, you get your 360 shots at a price far cheaper than a Horizon. Of course after 5 or 6 spins, your 36 frames run out, definitely a grenade to burn films. You also have a choice to spin the camera with your other hand in a constant fashion instead of using the built-in spring.
The cool thing about this is that there is no shutter in this thing, the ~66 degree lens (with a shooting distance from 1m to infinity) behind the slit is directly exposing film without any shutter leafs in front. So you shoot not by a click but by a spin.
Simple as a Holga, there is just the sunny vs. cloudy setting to adjust for the amount of light entering the camera. The same switch is used for film rewind. At the bottom of the handle is a tripod mount.
It is a bit heavy comparing to a typical Lomo camera mainly because of the weight of the metal hood. In addition to reducing light entering from the lens, the hood is made of metal to compensate the centripetal force generated by the body when it spins. Unscrew the hood and spin the camera, you will see what I mean.
There is a cute lever on top of the camera with a Spinner Dolphin, well now you know why is it named Spinner 360. A hotshoe exists but there is no contact points for your typical flash. It makes sense because a typical flash will only fire when there is a shutter release and there is no shutter on Spinner 360. I am guessing that this is for you to mount your bike headlight on it so you can lighten up your photos in low light conditions.
I've passed along the sample to our new colleague to try so I haven't gotten any experience developing the film. Oh BTW, the film compartment expose the entire film so you will get the cool sprocket holes effect by default. We could only reserve about 20pcs in city'super/LOG-ON for our Travel Photo Cafe 2010! I hope the next batch of new stock will arrive soon.

Detectives probing the kidnaps of two men in Salford last month are questioning five suspects after dawn raids this morning saw properties targeted across the city and Manchester as part of the investigation.
Earlier today (Thursday 7 April) officers from our Tactical Aid Unit (TAU), alongside local officers, hit six addresses in Blackley, Gorton and Salford.
The action comes after we received a report on the evening of Thursday 24 March regarding a man being assaulted and dragged into a car by a group of three men on Clarendon Park.
Thankfully after enquiries by specialist investigators, the victim - a man in his 20s - was found safe and well with some physical injuries but none that required hospital treatment.
Subsequent enquiries have led detectives from our Swinton CID to believe that a second man - also aged in his 20s - was also targeted by the group but was able to flee from the offenders vehicle.
We think that the incidents have been targeted attacks emanating from a possible drugs dispute involving organised criminals and we're keen to ensure that any potential suspects are identified and brought to custody for questioning.
Five men aged between 20 and 30 are currently in two custody sites across Greater Manchester and await questioning on suspicion of kidnap.

As of late I have been questioning my stash of themed and brightly colored fabrics. When I first became more interested in quilting as a hobby versus quilting here and there for an expected baby, I was more interested in vintage patterns and reusing old goods (thrifted menswear and linen skirts, etc). Somewhere along the way, and for good reason, I became hypnotized by all the beautiful fabric lines available, and my quilting headed in the same busy direction. My stash only had a few solids and those were bright colors to match all the themed fabrics. Just last fall I really started thinking more about solids, and invested in a color card to see what I had available to me. I took a step back and started working, once again, with older fabrics, and clothing that had a personal meaning. I discovered unbleached muslin; cheap, sturdy, and easily available.
When I saw the Monochromatic Challenge I knew I wanted to work in light, barely there colors, with touches of color within to compliment, but not take over, the simplicity of muslin, and work in improv to make completely unique blocks. I had a couple of goals: learn to make bias binding, and to not use stitch in the ditch or tying methods for my quilting. I met my goals, and I think I ended up with a very beautiful quilt.
Protesters, peace lovers, and Canadians all: demanded to know how the slaughter of 100's of civilians and the eradication of two decades of peace-building could be rightfully called "A measured response" by Canada's Prime Minister, Stephen Harper.
On July 21st in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, CANDIL and other organizations organized a peace rally denouncing aggressive Israeli tactics and Canada's support of the assault, emphasized by Prime Minister Harper's statement that Israeli aggression was merely a "measured response".
There has been widespread criticism of Canada's recent stance on Mideast politics that has seen a nation that prides itself on peacekeeping and honest peace-brokering more closely align itself with the Bush White House's policy and U.S. policy in general. The minority Conservative government of Stephen Harper is taking advantage of a weakened and leaderless main opposition party to dramatically alter Canada's domestic and foreign policies. As with many issues of injustice, widespread and vocal opposition to these policies is absolutely necessary to put pressure on our politicians.

BIENNALIST is an art format that responds and questions the themes of biennials with artworks. Thierry Geoffroy/COLONEL have since 1988 been on location testing the pertinence of the biennales. Instead of questioning the canvas, the pigment or the museum, the artist questions the staged art events and their motivations. The theme of each biennial is taken seriously and studied in order to contribute to the debate the biennales want to generate.

Titled Incerteza viva (Live uncertainty), the 32nd Bienal de São Paulo means to reflect on the current conditions of life and the strategies offered by contemporary art to harbor or inhabit uncertainty. The exhibition, curated by Jochen Volz and the co-curators Gabi Ngcobo (South Africa), Júlia Rebouças (Brazil), Lars Bang Larsen (Denmark) and Sofía Olascoaga (Mexico), will be held from September 10 to December 11, 2016 at the Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion, featuring approximately 90 artists and collectives, 54 of which are announced below:

The exhibition sets out to trace cosmological thinking, ambient and collective intelligence, and systemic and natural ecologies. “Art feeds off uncertainty, chance, improvisation, speculation and, at the same time, it attempts to count the uncountable and measure the immeasurable. It makes room for error, for doubt and risk—even for ghosts and the most profound misgivings, without evading or manipulating them,” says curator Jochen Volz. “In order for us to objectively confront the big questions of our time, such as global warming and its impact on our habitat, the extinction of species and the loss of biological and cultural diversity, economic and political instability, injustice in the distribution of the earth’s natural resources and global migration, perhaps it’s necessary to detach uncertainty from fear.”
As part of the research for the 32nd Bienal de São Paulo and inaugurating its public activities, four Study Days will be held between March and May of 2016, combining visits to cultural institutions and initiatives, local communities, ecological reserves, artists’ studios, and research centers with four conferences, open to the public and conducted by invited lecturers and professionals at the different locales where they are to take place:
Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brazi, one of the richest and most fragile biomes in the world, a land of depleted soil, of monoculture, of species vanished and knowledge forgotten, selected for a conference discussing extinction and preservation, abundance and drought; Santiago, Chile, for a conference focusing on cosmologies and the enmeshed relationships between art and science, myth and history from a present-day perspective; Accra, Ghana, a point of return for many slaves from Brazil, a locale of bonds and renewals, projections and collective dreams; and the Peruvian Amazon, where the objective is to work with education, connections between the human race and nature, and to address questions about what is natural and original.
To mark the cycle, a seminar will be held at the Bienal building in São Paulo in June, interlacing the themes and proposals developed during these collaborative investigations. Registers of the Study Days and the seminar in São Paulo will be published on the Bienal website and in a specific publication.
Seeking to actively participate in the continuous and collective construction of the Ibirapuera Park as a public space, the exhibition sees itself as an extension of the garden inside the pavilion. Conversely, numerous artistic projects will be commissioned for the park. The firm Álvaro Razuk Arquitetura has been invited to develop the exhibit’s architectural project and exhibition displays.

Our Daily Challenge...on wheels
Hopefully on wheel will suffice. I was scurrying around looking for things on wheels and voila I came across the wheelbarrow...I threw a treat in there and Beau of course jumped in, being a Lab and all....once his treat was devoured this was the look I got...not too impressed!
Detectives probing the kidnaps of two men in Salford last month are questioning five suspects after dawn raids this morning saw properties targeted across the city and Manchester as part of the investigation.
Earlier today (Thursday 7 April) officers from our Tactical Aid Unit (TAU), alongside local officers, hit six addresses in Blackley, Gorton and Salford.
The action comes after we received a report on the evening of Thursday 24 March regarding a man being assaulted and dragged into a car by a group of three men on Clarendon Park.
Thankfully after enquiries by specialist investigators, the victim - a man in his 20s - was found safe and well with some physical injuries but none that required hospital treatment.
Subsequent enquiries have led detectives from our Swinton CID to believe that a second man - also aged in his 20s - was also targeted by the group but was able to flee from the offenders vehicle.
We think that the incidents have been targeted attacks emanating from a possible drugs dispute involving organised criminals and we're keen to ensure that any potential suspects are identified and brought to custody for questioning.
Five men aged between 20 and 30 are currently in two custody sites across Greater Manchester and await questioning on suspicion of kidnap.

Maryland - A 2-alarm fire forced the evacuation of an 11-story high-rise apartment building on November 4, 2006. A fire erupted in an apartment on the third floor of 9314 Cherry Hill Road, Seven Springs Apartment Complex, in College Park. Early this morning, the Prince Georges County Police Department had been called to a third-floor apartment for a possible domestic fight. While attempting to make contact with the occupants, the police encountered smoke coming from the apartment and notified the Fire/EMS Department. Firefighters and paramedics were alerted to the fire at about 4:00 AM and arrived in quick fashion to find heavy fire and smoke issuing from the third floor apartment, a second-alarm was sounded bringing 75 firefighters, paramedics, command officers and support personnel to the scene.
An EMS Task Force was also sounded sending additional ambulances and paramedics. It required about 1 hour to extinguish the fire. A total of 25 apartments are uninhabitable due to fire, smoke and water damage. A total of 75 occupants are displaced; they are being assisted by apartment management, The County Office of Emergency Management and the Red Cross.
Prince Georges County Fire/EMS Department Arson Investigators have listed the cause of this fire as Arson and are working jointly with the County Police Department on suspect information and possible charges. An adult male is currently being held for questioning. Fire loss is estimated at $300,000. A total of three patients were transported to area hospitals including a firefighter that sustained burns; he was treated and released from the Burn Center.
An adult female from the apartment of origin was transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries and a 10th floor occupant, adult male, was transported to an area hospital for a check-up.

Twelve people have today, Thursday 10 January 2013, been arrested by officers from Project Gulf, Salford’s multi agency task force set up to target organised crime groups.
In total 14 warrants were executed at addresses across Salford.
The arrests were made on suspicion of a variety of offences including violent disorder, drugs offences and money laundering.
They remain in police custody for questioning.
Items recovered as part of the warrants include cash, drugs, balaclavas, body armour and a crossbow. Pictures which could illustrate an affiliation to organised crime groups have also been seized.
The warrants follow an investigation into an incident of violent disorder at the Blue Bell pub on Monton Green on 9 December 2012, during which a group of men entered and assaulted a number of people inside.
Officers attended the premises following contact with the police but no complaints were made. They recovered CCTV from the premises and have been investigating the matter since.
As part of a joint agency approach three housing inspections, two visits from local authority social workers and eight benefit fraud inspections were also carried out.
Superintendent Wayne Miller, said: “Today’s action reflects the determined and pro active approach we are taking to identify and disrupt organised crime groups operating in Salford.
“We were not called directly to the incident but as soon as we became aware we took and continue to take steps to identify those involved.
“We recovered some CCTV that quite clearly shows a determined and coordinated effort on the part of a significantly large number of offenders to deliberately target some of those inside the pub.
“While we cannot speculate on the motive for this, it is clear to me that this was not a random incident but an attempt by a gang of men to commit serious violence and to intimidate and threaten our communities. “
Tony Lloyd, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Greater Manchester said: ”We will not tolerate such behaviour and are standing shoulder to shoulder with partner agencies to pick at these crime groups member by member to disrupt their criminality by whatever means necessary.
"Today's operation was a fantastic example of partnership working with the police, council and local community all joining forces to make a stand against organised crime. Project Gulf shows how working together can make a real difference to Greater Manchester people. It also acts as a warning to those involved in organised crime that it simply will not be tolerated."

Thirteen suspected members of a prolific south Manchester organised crime group have been arrested by Greater Manchester Police.
Following a four-month investigation into the activities of a suspected OCG operating in the south Manchester area, police have today executed a series of warrants across Manchester.
As a result, 12 men and one woman have been arrested in connection with a string of offences, including ram raids, burglaries, and vehicle crime. The thirteen people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to steal and conspiracy to handle stolen property and remain in custody for questioning.
The raids were executed under the banner of Operation Ingot which was set up to tackle the activities of the suspected OCG. Some of the victims of those crimes accompanied officers on the raids so they could see the suspected offenders being arrested and put into the back of police vans.
Cash, mobile phones and stolen property have been seized after the raids.
As part of the operation but not directly connected to the overall investigation, a further three arrests were also made today – a man for possession of a stun gun, another man for possession of drugs and a woman for assisting an offender.
To date, officers believe this OCG may be responsible for up to 50 crimes between July and December of last year, during which more than £400,000 worth of goods have been stolen from innocent members of numerous communities.
Detective Sergeant Alan Hamlin said: "This operation has been four months in the making and is a result of a lengthy investigation into the activities of a suspected organised criminal network - based in south Manchester - that has been causing real heartache and misery in Greater Manchester and beyond its borders.
"Clearly I cannot go into too much detail at this stage given we have made so many arrests, but we believe members of the gang may be responsible for up to 40 crimes including burglaries, ram raids and the supply of drugs.
"As a result, many innocent and law-abiding people have fallen victim to this gang, losing not only money and goods worth up to £400,000 but also being put through huge emotional strain.
"I hope today's action shows those who have been victims of this gang that we will use every available weapon we and other agencies have to disrupt and dismantle these organised criminal networks.
"We know all too well from speaking to residents how destructive and pernicious these gangs can be, and the corrosive effect they can have in our communities. We also know that the answers to tackling organised crime lie in the communities where these people operate, so I would continue to ask residents to take a stand with us and together we can bring about real change.
"These are your communities. They belong to you, not the criminal gangs who try and rule with an iron fist. I want today's action to give residents the confidence that things are different and you can come forward. If you tell us what action needs taking, then through your local police officers and the local authority, we will take it and together we will dismantle these criminal networks."

We all joined this party to get more done. Whatever issue moves us, we didn’t join the NDP for any other reason than to change something.
That’s why I ran for our party. It’s why I am running for leader. And why I am in favour of really doing politics differently: doing what it takes to replace Stephen Harper’s majority with a progressive one.
For 50 years, we’ve asked Canadians to see politics differently. Now we must ask ourselves to do the same. Not for the sake of co-operation. But because Mr. Harper is attacking the values we hold most dear—something on which every leadership candidate agrees.
Yet, I am alone in suggesting we be open to co-operating with other parties, in Conservative-held seats. It is controversial. I would like to explain why I believe it is right.
After eight months of a Harper majority, we can’t afford eight years. His majority represents a clear and present danger. We need to find it in ourselves to rise to this challenge—soon.
In my own riding in British Columbia, the Harper government calls opponents of the Northern Gateway pipeline “radicals” and “enemies of the state”.
We’re not. We’re part of Canada’s progressive majority and, like you, we deserve a progressive government.
Our challenge as a party is how we rise to this threat.
I believe that a new breed of conservative requires new progressive thinking, which embraces the precious gift of Quebec’s new openness to progressive federalism.
I am a proud New Democrat. I’ve served in Parliament longer than any other candidate.
I am proud, too, of our party’s history of working with others. We did so not because we were bad New Democrats, but because we had an opportunity to get something done.
Jack Layton put getting something done first in 2005 when he wrote a better budget. Before him, Tommy Douglas and David Lewis worked co-operatively to deliver universal health care, public pensions and affordable housing.
These Canadian values are under attack.
They are also shared by people who have voted for other parties. For this reason, I’ve proposed that in Conservative-held seats, we let ridings hold run-off nominations …so the NDP, Liberals and Greens can face-off and decide which party runs against the Conservative.
Some people call this defeatist.
I say replacing Mr. Harper with NDP Cabinet ministers is the best thing we can do for our country, and our party.
Our response to Mr. Harper cannot be politics as usual. We’re New Democrats because we don’t want politics as usual.
I hear the concerns of people who have doubts.
We are all proud of our historic breakthrough. May 2 opened up an incredible opportunity for all of us—and a responsibility to use it well.
We are now the Official Opposition. We are no longer in third or fourth place. The tactical fights of yesterday are not the strategic fights of tomorrow.
Today’s third-place party, with one third of our seats, should not be our focus. Defeating Stephen Harper should.
Because there is a progressive majority in Canada that deserves better, and which wants us to rise to the challenge and make change happen.
If you want to help replace Mr. Harper’s majority with a progressive majority government, led by a New Democrat Prime Minister, I need your help.

Nous avons tous adhéré à ce parti car nous voulions que plus se fasse. Peu importe l'enjeu qui nous motive, nous nous sommes joints au NPD pour changer quelque chose.
C'est pour cette raison que je me suis présenté comme député, puis comme candidat à la chefferie. C'est aussi pour ça que je suis réellement pour une politique différente : faire ce qu'il faut pour remplacer la majorité de Stephen Harper par une majorité progressiste.
À la dernière élection, nous avons demandé aux Québécois de travailler avec nous pour pouvoir faire davantage. Les Québécois ont répondu positivement à l'appel et ça a mené à une percée historique.
Maintenant, je demande à tous les néo-démocrates d'être aussi ouverts à la coopération. Dans chaque province et territoire, le gouvernement conservateur est une menace aux choses qui nous sont chères.
Tous les candidats à la chefferie s'entendent à ce sujet.
Toutefois, je suis le seul à suggérer une plus grande ouverture à la coopération avec les autres partis, cela dans les circonscriptions conservatrices. Cette proposition est controversée. Je voudrais vous expliquer pourquoi je crois qu'elle est bonne.
Après huit mois de majorité conservatrice, il est clair que nous ne pouvons nous permettre huit ans. Cette majorité est un danger, clair et présent. Nous devons trouver la force de faire face à cette menace — rapidement.

Pourtant, nous ne le sommes pas. Nous faisons partie de la majorité progressiste canadienne et, comme vous, nous méritons un gouvernement qui nous représente.

Notre réponse à M. Harper ne peut être de la politique « comme d'habitude ». Nous sommes des néo-démocrates car nous ne voulons pas de politique « comme d'habitude ».
J'entends les préoccupations des gens qui doutent.
Nous sommes tous fiers de notre percée historique. Le 2 mai, on nous a offert une opportunité incroyable, mais aussi la responsabilité de bien l'utiliser.
Nous formons maintenant l'opposition officielle. Nous ne sommes plus en troisième ou quatrième place. Les combats tactiques d'hier ne sont pas les combats stratégiques de demain.

Shortly after 6am today, Wednesday 27 February 2013, police raided seven homes at addresses in Radcliffe, Bury and Ramsbottom. They have been taken into police custody for questioning.
It follows arrests made earlier this month in an ongoing fight against organised crime and the supply of Class A drugs in Bury.
Chief Superintendent Caroline Ball, divisional commander at Bury said: “We continue to target those concerned in the sale and supply of Class A drugs across Bury. I hope these arrests, and those over the last year, show the community we are committed in our fight against organised crime.
“Drugs can have a huge effect on the community whether that’s through burglary, robbery or vehicle crime, so cracking down on them is a priority.
“By taking these dealers off the streets we can disrupt the sale of illegal drugs as well as seizing their assets which is then put back into the community through the Proceeds of Crime Act.”
Dozens of officers were involved in the raids, including specialist officers from GMP’s tactical aid and dogs units, as well as divisional officers.
The raids were watched by several members of the community and councillors as well as Bury Mayor, Joan Grimshaw, who were invited along so they could witness first-hand how police are putting a stop to illegal drugs activity in their neighbourhood.
Drugs workers are available throughout the day to offer services to any prisoners that currently use drugs and who may want help to stop. Those seeking help for drugs abuse can speak to the drugs treatment service on 0161 253 6488.
The warrants were carried out following months of intelligence gathering and follow on from numerous operations in Bury over the last 12 months which have resulted in over 60 people arrested and charged with over 160 drugs offences. Thirteen of those arrested received prison sentences amounting to 30 years, nine are awaiting sentencing and 29 await trial. Police have seized 30 kilos of heroin, 30 kilos of amphetamine and ¾ of a kilo of cocaine, as well as £120,000 in this time.

As you can see it says there was "Press interest" - I'm not sure how many professional Press use mobile phone cameras in their jobs...Other people were taking exactly the same photo, but as they were wearing suits, whereas I was in cycling gear, they weren't questioned.

The raids were watched by several members of the community and councillors as well as Bury Mayor, Joan Grimshaw, who were invited along so they could witness first-hand how police are putting a stop to illegal drugs activity in their neighbourhood.
Drugs workers are available throughout the day to offer services to any prisoners that currently use drugs and who may want help to stop. Those seeking help for drugs abuse can speak to the drugs treatment service on 0161 253 6488.
The warrants were carried out following months of intelligence gathering and follow on from numerous operations in Bury over the last 12 months which have resulted in over 60 people arrested and charged with over 160 drugs offences. Thirteen of those arrested received prison sentences amounting to 30 years, nine are awaiting sentencing and 29 await trial. Police have seized 30 kilos of heroin, 30 kilos of amphetamine and ¾ of a kilo of cocaine, as well as £120,000 in this time.
