The Quadrant is a pub in Clifton/Bristol, England. The young lady drawing The Quadrant was sitting opposite the pub in a café.
The Quadrant @ Cecil is a 5-storey boutique development with a roof top garden. There is watering hole at The Quadrant. The Black Swan, as its name suggests, presents a stylish concept that may very well have attracted executives lingering around Raffles Place to end their day with some cold beers in a classic setting.

D6948 coasts through the semaphores north of Toddington, working 2C17 14:25 Broadway - Cheltenham Racecourse (with 37215 as tailgunner). This was part of the Growler Group’s 60th anniversary event for D6948 (37248) and 37215. I had bailed at Toddington on the inbound run for this working in order that I could grab a fot from the bridge.

"Sun activity for November 13: This patch of the sun, in its northern quadrant, shows all 3 of the sunspot regions now visible on the sun’s Earth-facing side. They are AR3140, AR3141, and AR3145. The animation shows their growth over the past 24 hours."

My images only show AR3140 and AR3141. AR3145 was no longer visible. While I shot, the sky was cloudy, accounting for the variable shading of each shot.
"Sunspots are areas that appear dark on the surface of the Sun. They appear dark because they are cooler than other parts of the Sun’s surface. Solar flares are a sudden explosion of energy caused by tangling, crossing or reorganizing of magnetic field lines near sunspots."

Handheld and manually focused, protective eyewear, used a "white light" lens filter-77-T by Thousand Oaks Optical of Kingman, Arizona. This type of filter is used to detect sunspots and granulation. It protects the lens, camera and eyes from permanent damage that would occur from looking directly at the sun.
Unlike last year’s submissions, when I challenged myself to triple alliterations and puns, this year I simply tried to make a quadrant kaleidoscopes out of each picture from last year. It worked for all but 2 of last year’s photos, so I found 2 new subjects.

This morning, 10 January 2017 (already!), the temperature is -19C (windchill -26C), an improvement on our recent deep-freeze weather. Three more days, and the forecast is for a few days above freezing, +2 to +4, which will be amazing if it actually happens. I'll be able to come out of hibernation!
Some years, the annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count for the town of Nanton is held late in December. Other years, it ends up being held early January, sometimes delayed because of really bad weather. The Count for 2016 was held on 30 December.
We drove through such beautiful scenery when we were covering the SW quadrant of the Christmas Bird Count circle that centered on the town of Nanton. A landscape over which the occasional Golden Eagle soars and in which, some years, numerous Sharp-tailed Grouse wander on the ground or perch in trees.
Actually, there are not many chances to take photos of birds on many of these Counts, but those of you who know me well know that I love taking scenic shots, old barns, farm cats, and anything else beautiful and/or interesting.
Last year, the highlight for me was seeing Pine Grosbeaks nice and close. This Count, I think the highlights were the stunning winter scenery, and a Great Horned Owl.
I absolutely love this area SW of Nanton! Some of these backroads are extremely steep and almost look vertical when seen from a distance. Some years, the whole area is white, covered in deep snow, so that you can't tell where the roadside ends and the ditch begins. This Count, it wasn't too bad, thank goodness, though I might have felt differently if I had been one of the two drivers for our group!
After driving (being driven, for me, which is always pure luxury) the backroads from about 8:00 a.m. till around 3:30 p.m., we returned to the wonderful home of the Truch family. Not only do Bill and Leah Truch and their son, Mike, always welcome everyone with open arms, they also provide a much-appreciated breakfast snack for us and then, at the end of the day, a delicious supper. Have to say that I love travelling these scenic backroads (though I've never driven them myself), but I also really enjoy getting together with everyone who covered the rest of the Count circle, afterwards. This is one of my favourite Bird Counts, and perhaps the most favourite.
Thanks so much for doing all the driving, Tony and Andrew, and thanks, Leah, Bill and Mike for all the effort and time you put into your wonderfully warm welcome! It was another well-organized Count, Mike, as usual - thank you!
I will add Andrew Hart's eBird report for this trip, in a comment box below.

Not completely happy with the first photos I took of this about a week ago I got a second chance when passing again at the end of the previous week. Quadrant Arcade at Christmas, at the bottom of Regent St, London. My last Explore of 2025 by the looks of things as well.
If you like this image, take a look at that one: flic.kr/p/2oNp3B6
Stefan took this as well. Maybe, you like his one even better.

This was an experiment to determine a way to create image files large enough for making large, high quality prints. It was also my first use of AutoStakkert!2 (which I LIKE!).
Mosaic of seven subframes, each frame a stack of the best 1666 of 2222 video frames.
Raw video processed in PIPP and converted to .ser files, stacked in AutoStakkert!2, wavelets applied in Registax 6.
Subframes merged with Microsoft ICE. Final processing in Photoshop CC2017.

The Gold-N-Blue polarizer saved the day here (for me at least). This scene was a totally grey, lifeless, bitter disappointment before I screwed on that filter. Its effect is not for everyone by I was blown away by the transformation.
