During our visit to the Royal Observatory, we ended our self-guided tour of Flamsteed House in the Time Galleries on the lower level. The galleries include Time and Longitude and Time and Greenwich. This display case features the unfinished remains of a 5-foot Mural Quadrant. According to the informational placard in the case, ''Longitude at sea can be found by astronomical observation. The regular passage of the Moon against the background of the stars can be read almost like the hands of a clock against its dial. This method requires very accurate star charts and tables predicting the Moon's path across the sky on any given day. To master this method, a sailor also needs extensive astronomical knowledge, advanced mathematics and an instrument able to measure star positions accurately from a moving ship. Collecting this astronomical information was one of the main tasks of Astronomers Royal at Greenwich. Over decades, thousands of observations were taken to create the basic data for the 'lunar-distance method' of finding longitude.''

Quarter of my 24" gem center for my Crazy & Twisted quilt. Thinking about scaling down the pattern to a 12" square to sell. Would anyone be interested in this paper piecing pattern?

Antico quadrante realizzato dall'Arch.

To obtain the left upper quadrant view, position the probe at the left posterior axillary line near ribs nine and ten. Again, the probe marker is pointed toward the patient's head. Since rib shadows may obscure your view, it is sometimes helpful to angle the probe obliquely in line with the intercostal space. Many novice sonographers do not position the probe posteriorly enough. The sonographerās hand should be parallel to and be resting on the bed. Since the spleen is smaller than the liver, the interface between the spleen and the kidney will be higher on the left side of the body. In awake, cooperative patients, asking the patient to take a deep breath may lower the spleen into the field of view.
