This is Gandalf sitting in my computer chair preventing me from getting
any work done. He seems to think of himself as "the mighty hunter" who
defends us from all kinds of spiders, roaches, rodents, etc. but he
spends more time resting than hunting. If you scratch his chin he'll
smile and show you his fangs! My family rescued him along with his
partner-in-crime Pyrrha in the summer of 2003, a few months after my
beloved Luna (a prior rescue kitty) died of a sudden illness. Gandalf
and Pyrrha were rescued at the Animal Shelter in Warner Robins, GA. My
husband saw that I was still depressed over Luna's death and took me to
go rescue one new kitty and we brought home 2! Gandalf had just been
taken off the streets and had technically not been there long enough to
be adopted, but the kitties had to be spayed and neutered before we
could take them home, and by the time that was done Gandalf was legally
adoptable. Gandalf had obviously been living and eating "by his wits" on
the streets. He was so skinny, scrawny, and scarred and scratched that
the shelter staff thought I was nuts wanting to adopt him! He even had a
small BB pellet embedded under his skin from prior abuse. (The BB is
still there, the vet didn't see any reason to put Gandalf through the
pain and suffering of surgery when it didn't seem to be bothering him,
so there it remains, benign but a reminder of his prior abuse) To me and
my husband, it was obvious that under the scraggly pelt and scars was a
beautiful friendly loving cat. Gandalf also was obviously a full grown
tomcat, very paternal in his kitty way, exactly what our half-wild other
adopted kitty at home needed to keep her in check! Well, needless to
say, Gandalf has filled out and the scars are invisible under his full
thick fur, and he does a good job of keeping the other kitties in-line!
I haven't located good photos of my other rescue cat Luna, but there is
a "spitting-image" of her on my Tribe page.

Religious cults at Dodona were already well established in some form during this Late Bronze Age, or Mycenaean, period. During the post-Mycenaean era, known as the “Greek Dark Ages,” there is little evidence of activity at Dodona; however, there was a resumption of contact between Dodona and southern Greece during the Archaic period in the 8th century BC with the presence of bronze votive offerings, including tripods, from southern Greek cities.
Archaeologists have have found Illyrian dedications and offerings that were received by the oracle during the 7th century BC. Dodona served as a religious and oracular center mainly for northern groups until the year 650 BC; only after that time did it become important for those who lived in the south as well.
Zeus was worshipped at Dodona as “Zeus Naios” or “Naos” (god of the spring below the oak in the temenos or sanctuary, like the Naiads) and as “Zeus Bouleus” (Counsellor). According to Plutarch, the worship of Jupiter (Zeus) at Dodona was begun by Deucalion and Pyrrha.
Many dedicatory inscriptions that have been recovered from the site mention both “Dione” and “Zeus Naios.”
