Globalfest - an amazing event put on in Calgary, AB. August 21, 2009 was opening night and Canada was presenting their fireworks show. I have to say it was one of the best firework shows I have ever seen.
Against the dark, shaded background this beautiful head of Wild Garlic reminded me of a starburst rocket exploding at a fireworks display.

3 liters of gasoline with a 20 gram black powder charge. There were two of them, but the one to the right of the group of people failed to go off (operator error!)
The end of Cowes Week (international yachting event) is always marked with a firework display from Cowes seafront. Tonight's show had a double budget - probably the best I've seen. Sadly my photographs don't do it justice but this was my first proper attempt at capturing them.
