Fireworks for the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, Qrendi, Malta, 2018

Against a darkening July sky, a shell rockets skyward and explodes in a cascade of colored fire.

The signals at South Deshler stand quietly, not paying mind to the celebration to the north.

Doesn’t it look like fireworks?

Thalictrum is a tall, willowy perennial that produces an abundance of fluffy mauve flowers on glistening black stems during the height of summer.

Meadow Rue is perfect for filling gaps in woodland gardens and shaded borders, particularly as the elegant foliage provides an ideal backdrop for smaller perennials.

The foliage of Thalictrum can be added to summer bouquets for a delicate touch.

Unbelievable, but a member of Ranunculaceae, the buttercup family, its common name is Chinese Meadow Rue.

Gorgeous leafage and pretty flowers, it loves moist but well drained soils.

It has lavender-purple flowers, each small flower is held high and is made up of tiny strands, like downy thistles, giving the plant a hazy, fluffy effect.

The foliage is scalloped and lacy looking.

In my garden, it is next to my Peonies.

So, more flowers from my garden...

Have a lovely day and thank you for your visit, M, (*_*)

Just when you thought you were safe…

This another bit of tomfoolery for Sliders Sunday.

The challenge, as ever, was to take a rather poor shot (of which I seem to have collected an abundance!) and create something a little more interesting. I wanted to add some insight into the flower’s interesting colours and form.

As usual for my merry manglings, I'll post the in-camera original so you can see how far we came.

Thank you for taking time to look. I hope you enjoy the image :) Happy Sliders Sunday.

… no, I am still around, just a little busy. I should be back to normal in early October. Have a great summer (/winter) in the meantime my friend :)

[Developed in Lightroom.

Colours mangled a bit in Affinity Photo using Curves in LAB colour mode, adding contrasting colours to the paeony pink.

Two layers from Topaz Studio Simplify filter, mixed together.

Border and shadow in Photo, to emphasise that this is mangled image.]

Deeply submerged in peaty water, reminiscent of a firework display.... well, I thought it was

I just took one picture of a partly cloudy night sky with the Moon and Mars, at 14mm with a low angle. Than I've tilted the image at 180°, nothing else. The stars come from the refraction of moonlight through some droplets into the grass.

Launching fireworks. Mount Carmel Fireworks Group, Zurrieq, Malta 2023

Taken at Zurrieq, Malta. St Catherine Fireworks Factory

Mother nature's pyrotechnics kicked off in a spectacular way during this beautiful epic sunset at Wastwater, lake district in Cumbria UK. I spent practically, the whole day here on location taking in all of the beauty of my surroundings as well as enjoying the peacefulness which was great for the soul. I photographed this scene (as well as others) from noon to sunset and was utterly surprised to find myself all alone at least an hour and a half before sunset. This scene is probably one of the most famous in the UK and is a favourite amongst landscape photographers as well as painters and the like. The mountains featured from the left to the right of the scene are as follows...Yewbarrow - Great Gable - Lingmell and then the lower slopes of Scafell Pike, the latter being the tallest mountain in England. Wastwater lake is also the deepest lake in the whole of England at 260 feet deep and 3 miles long and half a mile wide...Thanks for looking.
