Even though they are one of the smallest of birds they are one of the most beautiful and I enjoy watching them as they feed. This is one of the rare exceptions to what I do. I normally give my work away and move on to the next. I kept this one. There is another piece that I have made using the same pattern carved into cedar.

Dave has crafted this 12 inch long Tibetan support spindle from walnut, cherry and hard mahogany. The rim of the walnut whorl has been adorned with a beautiful pyrographed rose and leaf motif. The shaft was crafted from cherry, and the point from hard mahogany. This gorgeous spindle weights 1.8 ounces (50 grams).
